Import Manager - Freight (petrochemicals)

NextStepHR is looking for an experienced Import Procurement Management professional to join a leading listed chemical manufacturing and trading company. The role will own international sourcing, procurement, logistics, customs compliance and cost optimisation, ensuring an uninterrupted and efficient import supply chain.

Location: Khanna, Punjab

Work Mode: Full-time, On-site

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage end-to-end import procurement activities, from enquiry through order execution and delivery.
• Coordinate with overseas suppliers regarding quotations, availability, production and delivery schedules.
• Prepare purchase orders and maintain accurate procurement documentation and records.
• Follow up with suppliers on production, shipment planning and material dispatch.
• Monitor supplier performance and delivery timelines and proactively escalate delays.
• Coordinate with Import, Logistics, Finance and Warehouse teams for smooth material planning and execution.
• Support resolution of quality, quantity and documentation discrepancies.
• Maintain purchase documentation and procurement records in an audit-ready manner.
• Prepare procurement MIS and periodic reports.
• Support cost optimisation initiatives across the import portfolio.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 2–8 years of relevant experience in import procurement, international purchasing or overseas vendor management.
• Relevant industry exposure in chemicals, petrochemicals, fertilizers or comparable industrial/bulk materials is mandatory.
• Working knowledge of import purchase documentation, Incoterms and overseas supplier coordination.
• Strong supplier follow-up and coordination skills, including working across international time zones.
• Fluency in Hindi and English
• Candidates must be based in or genuinely willing to relocate to the Khanna/Ludhiana region.

• Professionals with experience in chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer, base oil, additives or other industrial or bulk-material procurement.
• Someone who understands the complete import procurement cycle and can independently coordinate with international suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• A strong follow-up professional who can track orders, shipments and documentation while ensuring timely material availability.
• Someone with strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate procurement records and MIS.
• A commercially aware professional interested in working closely with senior leadership and contributing to procurement efficiency and cost optimisation.
