The Image Analyst will be a critical member of the Data Operations team, responsible for the rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) of GalaxEye's cutting-edge Earth Observation (EO) data products. This role involves hands-on analysis of raw and processed SAR, MSI, and OptoSAR data to ensure they meet the highest standards of radiometric, geometric, and thematic accuracy before delivery to customers.
This position is offered on a contractual basis. Subject to business requirements and individual performance, the contract role may be considered for conversion to a full-time position through the company's standard evaluation process. The selected candidate should also be willing to work on a shift basis, as required by project and operational needs.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary focus of this role is the meticulous analysis and validation of Earth Observation data products:
A. Quality Assurance and Control (QA/QC)● Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Data:
○ Perform visual and quantitative inspection of SAR imagery to detect artifacts, calibration issues, or geometric distortions.
● Multi-Spectral (MSI) and Data:
○ Execute QC checks on optical data for cloud cover, haze, sensor noise, and atmospheric correction performance.
○ Verify band-to-band registration accuracy (alignment of spectral bands).
○ Assess the quality of orthorectification and geometric precision against reference maps.
● SyncFused (SAR + MSI Fusion) Products:
○ Critically analyze the fused output to ensure seamless integration coherence between the SAR and optical components.
○ Identify and document any artifacts introduced during the fusion process.
● Process Management:
○ Utilize and contribute to internal software tools and automated scripts for daily QC monitoring and metric generation.
○ Maintain detailed QA/QC logs and databases of product anomalies, processing errors, and correction status.
B. Documentation and Collaboration● Collaborate closely with the Data Processing Engineers and Calibration/Validation (Cal/Val) teams to understand and resolve identified data anomalies.
● Prepare detailed data quality reports for product batches, summarizing key performance metrics and highlighting any necessary reprocessing steps.
● Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA/QC protocols and standards.
3. Qualifications and Skills● Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geophysics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related analytical field.
● Core Knowledge: Foundational understanding of Earth Observation principles, basic image processing techniques, and coordinate systems/geodesy.
● Software Proficiency: Practical experience with industry-standard GIS and remote sensing software (like QGIS, ArcGIS, SNAP, ENVI) for image manipulation and analysis.
● Technical Skills: Basic programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB) are highly desirable for interacting with automated QC processes.
● Mindset: Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a rigorous, systematic approach to problem-solving.
Desired Skills (Bonus)● Familiarity with SAR data analysis concepts (like polarization, interferometry).
● Prior experience in a laboratory, academic, or professional setting involving data calibration or validation.
● Eagerness to learn about new satellite technologies and processing algorithms.
