Job Description

Job Title

ICT & Security Systems Design Consultant

Experience: 5–8 Years

Location: Gurugram, India | Hybrid

Company: Veneklasen Associates India LLP

Company Description

Veneklasen Associates, founded in 1947, is one of the world's leading consulting firms in acoustics, AV, ICT, security, environmental noise, and vibration. With offices across the USA, Canada, India, and UAE, VA works on technically complex and high-visibility projects including airports, museums, convention centers, arenas, mixed-use developments, hospitality, high-end residential, cultural landmarks, government buildings, experience centers, and large public venues.

Our ICT & Security practice focuses on creating resilient, scalable, future-ready, and standards-based technology infrastructure for buildings where performance, reliability, safety, visitor experience, and operational continuity are critical.

Role Description

We are looking for a mid-level ICT & Security Systems Design Consultant with 5–8 years of experience in designing building technology systems for large-scale projects.

This is a design consultancy role, not a site installation or product sales role. The selected candidate will work closely with architects, owners, PMCs, MEP consultants, contractors, and specialist vendors to develop technically sound ICT and security system designs from concept stage through tender documentation, construction support, and commissioning review.

The role will involve working on landmark projects such as museums, temples, arenas, mixed-use developments, experience centers, hospitality projects, campuses, and high-footfall public buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop ICT and security system design concepts, design basis reports, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documentation.
  • Design structured cabling systems, fibre backbones, MDF/IDF/TR layouts, telecom pathways, server/network rooms, Wi-Fi, DAS, active network infrastructure, and related ICT systems.
  • Design CCTV/video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, visitor management, ANPR, VMS/PSIM integration, security control rooms, and related electronic security systems.
  • Prepare network, bandwidth, storage, PoE, rack space, heat load, cable containment, and camera coverage calculations.
  • Coordinate with architectural, interiors, MEP, façade, landscape, and specialist consultants to integrate ICT/security requirements into the building design.
  • Review shop drawings, technical submittals, product datasheets, method statements, and vendor proposals.
  • Support RFIs, technical clarifications, value engineering reviews, and contractor/vendor evaluation.
  • Conduct product and technology research for suitable, vendor-neutral, standards-compliant solutions.
  • Prepare presentations, reports, design narratives, compliance notes, and technical comparison documents for clients.
  • Support testing, commissioning, snagging, and handover review where required.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 5–8 years of experience in ICT, ELV, low-voltage, or security systems design.
  • Good working knowledge of:
  • Structured cabling systems
  • Fibre optic backbone design
  • Network switches, routers, PoE, VLAN basics, Wi-Fi infrastructure
  • Server/storage/network room planning
  • CCTV, VMS/NVR, access control, intrusion detection, ANPR, visitor management
  • Security control rooms / SOC infrastructure
  • Ability to read architectural, reflected ceiling, MEP, electrical, and low-voltage drawings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory; Revit/BIM knowledge will be an advantage.
  • Ability to prepare design drawings, riser diagrams, schematics, layouts, BOQs, and technical specifications.
  • Understanding of international standards such as BICSI TDMM, ANSI/TIA, ISO/IEC 11801, IEC 62676, NFPA, UL, ISO 27001, or equivalent applicable standards.
  • Strong analytical skills for calculations, technical comparisons, and design decision-making.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications, IT, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience on airports, museums, hotels, campuses, stadiums, arenas, convention centers, mixed-use, or large public buildings.
  • Knowledge of Wi-Fi heatmap tools such as Ekahau or iBwave.
  • Understanding of CCTV DORI principles, camera field-of-view planning, video analytics, and storage calculations.
  • Familiarity with PSIM/VMS platforms, access control architecture, and integrated command center design.
  • Exposure to cybersecurity basics for building systems and converged ICT/security networks.
  • Certifications such as RCDD, CCNA, CompTIA Network+, PSP, or manufacturer-neutral security/ICT certifications will be an advantage.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who can think like a consultant, not just a drafter.

The right candidate should be able to understand the client's operational needs, translate them into technically sound systems, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and produce clear design documentation that contractors can price, build, test, and maintain.

This role is ideal for someone who has strong hands-on design knowledge and now wants to work on larger, more complex, and more prestigious projects with an international consulting team.
