Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

Role Summary: Join our research team to advance understanding of deformation mechanism in nickel-based superalloys. You'll develop and apply mesoscale materials models and contribute code in C++ and Python to accelerate materials understanding for next-generation aerospace applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mesoscale materials models in C/C++/Python for deformation mechanisms in nickel-based superalloys
  • Design and execute computational studies; interpret results and compare with literature/experimental data
  • Document methods, produce reproducible results, and communicate findings to a cross-functional R&D team

Basic Qualifications

  • Current MS or PhD student or Postdoc in Materials Science, Computational Science, or related field
  • Hands-on experience in computational materials science or materials modeling (mesoscale focus preferred)
  • Strong coding skills in C++ and Python

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with dislocation dynamics, phase-field, crystal plasticity, or related mesoscale methods
  • Familiarity with HPC workflows, version control (Git), and scientific Python stack (NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib)
  • Knowledge of nickel-based superalloys and deformation mechanisms
