IBM Senior Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IBM Senior Administrator professional to join our IT Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our clients IBM systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. You will also provide advanced technical support, troubleshooting complex issues, and working closely with our clients to meet their evolving IT needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • IBM Systems Administration:
  • Manage and maintain IBM Power Systems (AS/400, iSeries), including installation, configuration, operating system upgrades, patch management, HMC, and Live Partition Mobility (LPM)
  • Monitor system performance, conduct regular health checks, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Implement and maintain security best practices, including user management, role-based access control, and encryption.
  • Client Interaction and Support:
  • Work closely with clients to understand their business needs and provide tailored IT solutions.
  • Conduct regular client meetings to review system performance, discuss upcoming projects, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Project Management:
  • Lead or participate in IT projects related to IBM systems and applications, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and scope.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies, integrations, and enhancements.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and IBM best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, efficiency, and client satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in IBM system administration and application support, preferably within a Managed Services or Cloud Services environment.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in IBM Power Systems (AS/400, iSeries) administration.
  • Proficiency in IBM-based applications (e.g., ERP, middleware) and related technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of IBM system security, backup, and disaster recovery best practices.
  • Experience with Mimix or other data replication technologies, BRMS tape functionality, and alert monitoring

  • Flexible work arrangements (remote options available).
