The Role

Key Responsibilities

Integration Development (IIB / ACE)

  • Design, develop, and maintain message flows, subflows, ESQL logic, mappings, and integration components within IBM IIB/ACE.
  • Build integration solutions supporting SOAP, REST APIs, MQ, HTTP(S), JDBC/SQL, and filebased interfaces.
  • Develop reusable components, transformation logic, errorhandling frameworks, and flow patterns for enterprise use.

Messaging & API Engineering

  • Implement and support services and interfaces using:
    • SOAP / WSDL
    • REST / OpenAPI specifications
    • MQ message models (XML, JSON, BLOB, custom formats)
    • HTTP/HTTPS connectivity, security tokens, authentication models
  • Ensure proper integration of Java code, Java Compute Nodes (JCNs), and reusable Java libraries within IIB/ACE.

DevOps, Deployment & CI/CD

  • Provide DevOps support for deployments, versioning, and integration delivery pipelines.
  • Automate build & deployment operations using scripts, ACE Toolkit, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Support environment readiness (DEV/SIT/UAT/PROD), configuration management, and flow deployment lifecycle.

Performance Engineering & Troubleshooting

  • Perform performance tuning of message flows, JVM nodes, MQ connectivity, thread pools, and integration servers.
  • Diagnose runtime issues (exceptions, memory, heap, database, MQ latency, authentication failures).
  • Conduct root cause analysis for integration failures and implement longterm fixes.

Operational & Production Support

  • Provide L3/L4 support for integration outages, failed deployments, runtime issues, or performance degradation.
  • Improve monitoring and observability using logs, probes, monitoring dashboards, and tracing.
  • Work with MQ teams, DB teams, network teams, and app teams to resolve complex integration issues.

Collaboration & Consulting

  • Partner with application teams to understand interface requirements and guide them on best practices for integration.
  • Participate in solution design reviews, capacity planning, and architecture discussions.
  • Provide thought leadership and mentor junior developers on ACE/IIB development and DevOps techniques.


    Who You Are

    Required Qualifications

    • 12+ years experience in IBM IIB / IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) development and support.
    • Strong handson experience with:
      • Message flow design & development
      • SOAP / REST services
      • Java, SQL, MQ, HTTPbased integrations
      • Error handling, logging frameworks, integration patterns
    • Solid scripting and DevOps capabilities (shell scripting, CI/CD pipelines, automation tooling).
    • Strong debugging skills with logs, trace nodes, user traces, and runtime metrics.
    • Experience supporting production deployments, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

    Preferred / Nice to Have

    • Knowledge of Kafka, API Gateways, or cloudbased integration platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
    • Experience with MQFTE/MFT, JMSbased applications, or enterprise service bus (ESB) patterns.
    • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for ACE deployments.
    • Exposure to ITIL processes (change, incident, problem management).
