Job Summary
The
IBDP Economics Facilitator is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching of
IB Diploma Programme Economics (SL & HL) in alignment with the standards of the
International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The facilitator will foster critical thinking, global awareness, and analytical skills among students while preparing them for internal and external assessments.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Teach IBDP Economics (SL & HL) following IB curriculum guidelines.
- Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with IB standards.
- Use inquiry-based and concept-driven teaching strategies.
- Encourage critical thinking and real-world economic analysis.
- Integrate case studies, data analysis, and current global economic issues into lessons.
Assessment & Evaluation
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments.
- Guide students in completing Internal Assessments (IA).
- Prepare students for IB external examinations.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance.
- Provide timely feedback to students and parents.
Curriculum & Planning
- Plan units aligned with IB syllabus requirements.
- Participate in collaborative curriculum planning with IB faculty.
- Stay updated with IB Economics curriculum developments.
- Maintain proper documentation as per IB standards.
Student Support
- Mentor students in research, analysis, and academic writing.
- Provide academic guidance and support for Extended Essays (Economics).
- Foster independent learning and ethical research practices.
Professional Responsibilities
- Attend IB training/workshops when required.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Maintain a positive and collaborative learning environment.
- Uphold school and IB policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Economics or related field (Mandatory).
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification (Preferred).
- IB teaching certification or training in Economics (Preferred).
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience teaching IBDP Economics or equivalent international curriculum.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of microeconomics and macroeconomics concepts.
- Familiarity with IB assessment methods and criteria.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to use technology and digital tools for teaching.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster inquiry-based learning.
Preferred Experience
- Experience guiding Extended Essays (Economics).
- Experience handling Internal Assessments (IA).
- Exposure to international curricula such as IB, IGCSE, or Cambridge.
