IB Teacher Librarian
The IB Teacher Librarian manages the school library and supports teaching and learning across the curriculum. The role promotes information literacy, research skills, reading culture, and academic integrity while collaborating with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom learning within the **International Baccalaureate framework.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage the day-to-day operations of the school library.
Maintain and organize library resources including books, journals, databases, and digital materials.
Develop and update the library collection to support curriculum needs.
Ensure proper cataloguing and circulation of resources.
Collaborate with teachers to support inquiry-based learning.
Teach research skills, information literacy, and referencing techniques.
Support students in locating, evaluating, and using information ethically.
Integrate library resources into classroom units and projects.
Support curriculum needs of programmes such as the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP).
Assist students with research projects, personal projects, and extended essays.
Promote academic honesty and proper citation practices.
Encourage a school-wide reading culture.
Organize book clubs, reading challenges, and author visits.
Promote both print and digital reading resources.
Guide students in digital citizenship and responsible technology use.
Support teachers in using online research tools and educational databases.
Introduce students to digital research platforms and referencing tools.
Work closely with teachers, curriculum coordinators, and school leadership.
Participate in curriculum planning meetings.
Provide professional support to teachers on information resources.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science / Information Science / Education.
Teaching qualification (B.Ed., PGCE, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience in school library management.
Strong information literacy and research skills
Knowledge of library management systems
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to promote reading culture among students
Familiarity with digital learning resources and databases
Experience working in an IB World School.
Knowledge of inquiry-based learning and IB philosophy.
Experience supporting student research projects.
