Candidates must demonstrate architect-level Okta expertise, not only Okta administration or L2/L3 support experience. Strong hands-on knowledge of Okta Identity Governance, Okta Workflows, IAM architecture, federation, SSO, application integration, security architecture, and stakeholder management is essential.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced IAM Solutions Architect – Okta with 12–20 years of overall experience and strong expertise in enterprise IAM architecture, Okta Identity Cloud, Okta Identity Governance (OIG), Okta Workflows, authentication, federation, and application integration.

The architect will lead end-to-end IAM solution design, technical governance, architecture, and implementation oversight while working closely with business stakeholders, security teams, application owners, architects, and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience designing scalable, secure, and enterprise-grade Okta solutions, along with excellent stakeholder management and technical leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

IAM & Okta Architecture

• Lead discovery workshops and gather business, security, and technical IAM requirements.
• Design end-to-end Okta Customer Identity Solutions (CIS) architecture.
• Define architecture for Universal Directory, Identity Governance, Okta Workflows, authentication, and application integrations.
• Define enterprise Identity Lifecycle Management / Joiner-Mover-Leaver (JML) strategies.
• Design onboarding and provisioning strategies using manual processes, CSV, and HR-driven integrations.
• Define scalable identity, access, authentication, and authorization models.

Identity Governance

• Design and implement Okta Identity Governance (OIG) solutions.
• Define:
• Access Requests
• Access Certifications
• Resource Catalogs
• Entitlement Management
• Approval workflows
• Reviewer workflows
• Governance policies
• Design RBAC and Segregation of Duties (SoD) models.

Authentication & Federation

• Define enterprise SSO, MFA, authentication, authorization, and session management strategies.
• Design federation architectures using:
• SAML 2.0
• OAuth 2.0
• OpenID Connect (OIDC)
• SCIM
• Design and manage Org2Org federation and Identity Provider integrations.
• Define attribute mappings and trust relationships.

Application Integration

• Work with application owners to define application onboarding strategies.
• Define application access models and integration requirements.
• Design and review enterprise application SSO integrations.
• Support integration with HR systems and other enterprise platforms.
• Ensure appropriate provisioning and deprovisioning architecture.

Okta Workflows & Automation

• Provide architectural guidance for Okta Workflows.
• Design approval workflows and identity governance automation.
• Review custom connectors and automation developed by engineering teams.
• Define reusable automation patterns and integration approaches.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical leadership to IAM engineering teams.
• Review and approve solution designs, workflows, integrations, and custom connectors.
• Guide engineers during implementation, testing, deployment, and production rollout.
• Perform technical reviews and ensure adherence to architecture standards.
• Support technical risk assessment, effort estimation, and project planning.

Architecture & Documentation

• Create and maintain:
• Solution Design Documents
• High-Level / Low-Level Architecture Documents
• Architecture Diagrams
• Technical Standards
• Implementation Roadmaps
• Integration Design Documents
• Define deployment and environment management strategies for Preview and Production Okta tenants.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise security standards and IAM best practices.

Security & Governance

• Ensure IAM architecture aligns with:
• Zero Trust principles
• RBAC
• SoD
• Authentication and authorization best practices
• Enterprise security policies
• Compliance and governance requirements
• Identify technical and security risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
