Job Description

HYDRAULIC SPECIALIST

JOB PURPOSE

  • Conduct inspections, perform preventive maintenance, and carry out repairs on hydraulic equipment and systems, including the ship lift, workshop equipment, hydraulic systems, marine cranes and lifting gear, winches, mobile equipment steering systems, and other marine equipment to ensure effective operation of repaired equipment / system.

Generic Skills

  • Review and interpret hydraulic schematics, technical drawings, and operating manuals to support maintenance and troubleshooting activities. 
  • Inspect, test, and maintain hydraulic systems in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules and operational requirements. 
  • Diagnose faults and identify root causes of defects or malfunctions in hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools and technical documentation. 
  • Apply sound knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and methods to resolve mechanical and hydraulic system issues effectively. 
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of reduction gears, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electric control systems, and vacuum/pressure pumps. 
  • Maintain operational understanding and repair capability of diesel and gasoline engines, including related industrial or marine equipment (where applicable). 
  • Utilize standard maintenance tools, techniques, and best practices to perform repair and upkeep activities efficiently. 
  • Read and comprehend technical repair manuals, system diagrams, and troubleshooting instructions accurately. 
  • Perform overhaul, repair, and replacement of hydraulic components such as pumps, valves, cylinders, and actuators. 
  • Install and fit hydraulic fluid lines, pipes, and associated components. Assemble and disassemble mechanical and hydraulic systems as required for maintenance and repair. 
  • Clean, inspect, and lubricate system components to ensure optimal performance and longevity. 
  • Record and document the condition of hydraulic systems, including faults identified, corrective actions taken, and maintenance activities performed.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 Repair and Overhaul

  • Repair and restore hydraulic equipment and systems that includes Ship Lift, transfer system, workshop equipment's, hydraulic system, marine cranes and lifting gears, winches, mobile equipment steering system and other marine equipment 
  • Diagnose faults in hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and diagnostic tools by correct process and procedures in order to fix all malfunctions. 
  • Support installation and commissioning of new hydraulic equipment and upgrades. 
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns and implement corrective actions in a safe and timely manner. 
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on hydraulic failures and implement corrective actions. 

Preventive Maintenance

  • Perform Planned Preventive Maintenance as prescribed in PM plan to ensure that they are running smoothly to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Inspect and diagnose defects on ship lift, all fixed and mobile equipment
