Job Description Hydraulic Design Engineer (Hydro & Dams)
- Perform hydraulic design and analysis for dams, spillways, canals, intake structures, and associated hydro infrastructure
- Develop and review hydraulic calculations including flood routing, energy dissipation, flow profiles, and sediment transport
- Prepare design reports, technical specifications, and detailed engineering drawings in compliance with project requirements
- Conduct hydrological studies such as rainfall-runoff analysis, design flood estimation, and watershed modeling
- Utilize industry-standard software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MIKE, Flow-3D) for hydraulic and hydrological simulations
- Coordinate with structural, geotechnical, and civil teams for integrated design development
- Support feasibility studies, DPRs (Detailed Project Reports), and tender documentation for hydro and dam projects
- Review and validate design inputs, drawings, and calculations from consultants and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety guidelines (e.g., BIS, ICOLD, USACE where applicable)
- Participate in site visits and provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases
- Analyze design risks and propose optimized, cost-effective engineering solutions
- Assist in client interactions, technical presentations, and design review meetings
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Hydraulics/Water Resources
- 58 years of experience in hydraulic design for dams, hydropower, or water infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of open channel flow, fluid mechanics, and hydraulic structures design
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling tools and AutoCAD/Civil 3D
- Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
