Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Design Engineer with a strong consultancy background to lead and deliver HVAC designs for complex building projects. The role requires expertise in design development, client coordination, multidisciplinary collaboration, and compliance with international and local standards while ensuring high-quality and energy-efficient solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HVAC design activities from concept, schematic, and detailed design stages through IFC drawings
- Perform detailed heating and cooling load calculations using industry-standard software
- Design and select HVAC systems including chilled water systems, VRF, VAV, AHUs, FCUs, and exhaust systems
- Prepare HVAC layouts, schematics, equipment schedules, BOQs, and technical specifications
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, CIBSE, SMACNA, and local authority regulations
- Coordinate closely with architects, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire-fighting, and BIM teams
- Participate in design review meetings with clients, developers, and project stakeholders
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs from a design perspective
- Support site activities, commissioning, and handover from a consultant's role
- Perform value engineering, energy optimization, and life-cycle cost analysis
- Guide and mentor junior HVAC engineers and CAD/BIM technicians
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 58 years of HVAC design experience in a consultancy or design firm
- Strong exposure to commercial, residential, mixed-use, or institutional projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP
- Hands-on experience with load calculation and simulation software (HAP, TRACE, IES, or equivalent)
- Sound knowledge of international standards and local codes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with green building certifications (LEED, IGBC, Estidama, or BREEAM)
- Experience working on international projects
- Strong client-facing and coordination skills
