Job Description

Role Objective

To manage plant HR operations in alignment with corporate HR policies, ensuring manpower efficiency, strong industrial relations, statutory compliance, and disciplined workforce management while supporting plant productivity goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end plant HR operations including blue colar recruitment, attendance, payroll inputs, and employee lifecycle
  • Manage blue-collar workforce (operators, contract labour) and ensure discipline on shopfloor
  • Maintain healthy industrial relations and handle grievances, misconduct, and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure statutory compliance (Factory Act, PF, ESIC, CLRA, etc.)
  • Control manpower cost, overtime, and contractor deployment
  • Partner with Plant Head to improve productivity, absenteeism, and retention
  • Drive employee engagement and welfare initiatives at plant and colony
  • Support audits, inspections, and internal HR governance

1. Manpower Planning & Recruitment

  • Plan manpower requirements based on loom capacity, shifts, and production targets
  • Handle recruitment for:

Operators

Supervisors & technical Employees

Contract labour

  • Ensure reduction in hiring lead time.

2. Shopfloor HR Operations

  • Manage attendance, shifts, and overtime control
  • Ensure discipline and adherence to plant rules
  • Drive employee engagement on shopfloor
  • Handle grievances of workers and staff proactively

3. Industrial Relations (IR)

  • Maintain healthy IR climate in the plant
  • Handle worker issues
  • Conduct domestic inquiries and disciplinary actions
  • Ensure minimal disruptions in production due to manpower issues

4. Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws:

Factory Act

PF, ESIC

Bonus, Gratuity

Contract Labour Act

Maintain registers, records, and documentation

Coordinate audits and inspections

5. Contract Labour Management

  • Manage contractors and ensure compliance
  • Monitor labour deployment vs requirement
  • Control labour cost and avoid over-deployment

6. Payroll & HR Administration

  • Oversee payroll inputs (attendance, OT, leaves)
  • Ensure accuracy and timely salary processing
  • Manage HRMIS and employee records

7. Training & Development

  • Identify skill gaps in operations
  • Conduct training programs for:
  • Skill upgradation
  • Quality improvement
  • Safety awareness
  • Support onboarding of new joiners

8. Employee Engagement & Welfare

  • Implement welfare initiatives in plant & colony
  • Organize engagement activities (festivals, sports, etc.)
  • Improve retention and reduce absenteeism

9. Safety & Culture

  • Promote safety culture on shopfloor
  • Ensure HR support in safety compliance and audits
  • Build disciplined and performance-driven work culture

Qualification

  • MBA / MSW in HR
  • Additional certification in Labour Laws preferred

Experience

  • 8–10 years in plant HR (textile preferred)
