Job Description

To ensure the organization's full compliance with applicable labour laws, statutory regulations, and employment-related legal requirements across all locations by driving robust compliance governance, audit mechanisms, contractor compliance, statutory documentation, and regulatory liaison activities. The role is responsible for mitigating legal and operational risks, strengthening compliance frameworks, supporting policy implementation, and promoting a culture of statutory adherence across the organization.

Job Responsibilities

1. Statutory Compliance Management

  • Knowledge of compliance with all applicable labour laws such as:
  • Factories Act, 1948
  • Shops and Establishments Act
  • Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952
  • Employees State Insurance Act, 1948
  • Payment of Wages Act, 1936
  • Minimum Wages Act, 1948
  • Payment of Bonus Act, 1965
  • Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972
  • Monitor changes in labour laws and ensure timely implementation.

2. Compliance Audits & Risk Management

  • Conduct internal compliance audits across locations (PAN India).
  • Identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance dashboards and reports for management.

3. Vendor & Contractor Compliance

  • Ensure compliance of contractors under:
  • Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970
  • Monitor contractor licenses, wage payments, PF/ESIC contributions.
  • Conduct due diligence and periodic compliance reviews of vendors.
  • Minimum wages
  • New Labour Code understanding & Implementation

4. Documentation & Record Keeping

  • Maintain statutory registers, records, and filings (digital & physical).
  • Ensure timely filing of returns and maintenance of compliance calendars.
  • Handle inspections, notices, and legal documentation.

5. Liaison with Authorities

  • Coordinate with labour departments, PF, ESIC, and other statutory bodies.
  • Represent the company during inspections, hearings, and inquiries.

6. Policy & Process Implementation

  • Develop and implement compliance SOPs and policies.
  • Align HR practices with legal requirements.
  • Support HR operations in disciplinary letter and govt. letters drafting.

7. Training & Awareness

  • Conduct training sessions for HR teams, managers, and contractors on labour laws.
  • Promote a culture of compliance across the organization.

8. Compensation & Benefits Compliance

  • Ensure statutory compliance related to payroll, compensation, and employee benefits.
  • Review salary structures, wage components, and benefit policies for compliance with applicable labour laws and wage regulations.
  • Support benchmarking and governance of compensation structures in alignment with legal and organizational frameworks.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Indian labour laws and statutory frameworks
  • Expertise in compliance audits and risk mitigation
  • In-depth understanding of CLRA and contractor compliance regulations
  • Vendor and off-roll workforce management experience
  • Experience in factory license / contract labour license renewals and statutory registrations
  • Exposure to union interaction and handling industrial relations matters
  • Understanding and implementation of New Wage Code / Labour Codes
  • Drafting and handling discrepancy letters, notices, and statutory/legal correspondence
  • Knowledge of compensation & benefits structures with payroll compliance understanding
  • Strong analytical mindset with data-driven problem-solving ability
  • Attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle government inspections and legal matters
