Job Description

Job Title: HR Lead / HRBP

Location: Lower Parel, Mumbai

Industry: Pharmaceuticals

Experience: 14–15 years

Role Overview

This role will serve as a strategic and operational HR partner to business leadership, with strong ownership across performance management, payroll, statutory compliance, factory HR operations, and capability development. The incumbent will be responsible for driving HR processes that are compliant, efficient, and aligned with business growth objectives, particularly within a manufacturing-driven pharma environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Performance Management

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Performance Management System (PMS)
  • Drive goal-setting, mid-year reviews, and annual appraisal cycles across corporate and plant teams
  • Partner with leadership to ensure performance differentiation, succession planning, and high-potential identification
  • Enable managers to have effective performance and feedback conversations

2. Payroll & Compensation

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality
  • Ensure statutory compliance related to payroll (PF, ESIC, PT, gratuity, bonus, etc.)
  • Manage salary structures, benchmarking, and compensation revisions
  • Coordinate with finance for audits and reporting requirements

3. Statutory Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable labour laws, especially those relevant to manufacturing units
  • Manage inspections, audits, and compliance documentation (Factories Act, Shops & Establishment, etc.)
  • Liaise with external authorities, consultants, and legal advisors as required
  • Maintain and update HR policies in line with regulatory changes

4. Factory / Plant HR Management

  • Act as the primary HR interface for plant operations
  • Handle workforce planning, attendance, shift management, and discipline
  • Manage industrial relations (IR), union interactions (if applicable), and grievance handling
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives at plant level to ensure productivity and retention

5. Learning & Development

  • Identify training needs across functions and levels
  • Design and implement L&D interventions aligned with business priorities
  • Facilitate leadership development, behavioural training, and compliance training programs
  • Track effectiveness of training initiatives through measurable outcomes

6. HR Business Partnering

  • Partner with business heads to align HR strategy with business goals
  • Support organizational design, manpower planning, and talent management
  • Drive employee engagement, culture initiatives, and retention strategies
  • Provide data-driven insights through HR metrics and dashboards

Key Requirements

  • 14–15 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, or regulated industries
  • Strong exposure to plant HR and labour law compliance is essential
  • Proven experience managing PMS, payroll, and statutory compliance independently
  • Demonstrated ability to handle IR/ER scenarios and factory workforce dynamics
  • Exposure to L&D frameworks and leadership development initiatives
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and execution rigor

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA / PGDM in Human Resources or equivalent
  • Experience working with mid-sized or growing organizations
  • Familiarity with HRMS systems and digital HR tools
