Job Description:
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) corporate initiatives and onshore activities, focusing on establishing HSSE standards, managing strategic HSSE projects, and creating comprehensive risk control mechanisms to preserve workers health, prevent incidents, and ensure regulatory compliance across MODEC.
- Conduct comprehensive site inspections across the corporate office, logistics base, and operational facilities to identify potential safety hazards, document findings, and develop immediate corrective action plans.
- Develop and implement HSSE campaigns that engage the onshore workforce, focusing on proactive safety awareness, risk prevention and promoting a culture of safety consciousness throughout the organization.
- Perform detailed risk assessments for various operational areas, including corporate facilities, logistics bases, and support departments, utilizing systematic risk identification and mitigation methodologies.
- Facilitate safety moments and toolbox talks to enhance workforce safety awareness, communicate critical safety information, and promote ongoing safety dialogue across different operational teams.
- Support various departments by providing expert HSSE guidance, conducting safety training, and ensuring compliance with internal safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the implementation of HSSE management systems by developing, reviewing, and updating safety protocols, work instructions, and operational guidelines for onshore facilities.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including developing and maintaining emergency response plans, conducting drills, and ensuring all personnel are trained in appropriate emergency procedures.
- Investigate and document safety incidents, near-misses, and potential hazards, preparing comprehensive reports and recommending preventive and corrective actions to minimize future risks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSSE regulations, industry best practices, and emerging safety technologies to continuously improve the organization's safety performance and compliance.
- Ensure continuous compliance with evolving HSSE regulations and industry standards, complicated by frequent legislative changes, complex regulatory landscapes, and the need for constant adaptation of safety protocols.
- Manage safety communication across multiple departments and operational levels, challenging because of communication barriers, varying technical understanding, and the need to translate complex safety concepts into actionable insights.
- Implement proactive risk mitigation strategies in a dynamic operational environment, difficult due to constantly changing operational conditions, emerging technological risks, and the unpredictability of potential safety hazards.
- Conduct comprehensive incident investigations that are both thorough and constructive, challenging because of potential defensive responses, the need to identify root causes without blame, and creating meaningful preventive actions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant experience in HSSE and/or Process Safety within the oil & gas, chemical, construction industry, or a similar field.
- NEBOSH General Certificate
