Job Description

Job Summary:

The HR Manager – Payroll & Compliance will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll operations and ensuring full compliance with applicable statutory regulations. The role requires strong domain expertise in payroll management, labor law compliance, and HR operations, along with the ability to maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Management:

  • Manage and supervise end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timely disbursement of salaries
  • Oversee preparation and validation of salary sheets, bank transfer statements, and statutory deductions
  • Ensure accurate attendance inputs (HRMS) for payroll processing across all functions
  • Administer bonus, gratuity, and salary revisions/appraisals in accordance with company policies
  • Address and resolve employee payroll-related queries in a timely and professional manner

Statutory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, including PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Bonus, and Gratuity
  • Oversee timely filing of statutory returns and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Manage PF & ESI registrations, documentation, and related employee communications
  • Maintain statutory records, registers, and ensure audit readiness at all times
  • Coordinate and support internal and external compliance audits

HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle:

  • Supervise onboarding and exit processes through HRMS
  • Review and approve offer letters, appraisal letters, agreements, and exit documentation
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of employee records and documentation
  • Monitor attendance management across departments, including warehouse and support staff
  • Drive continuous improvement and optimization of HRMS for payroll and attendance management

Employee Relations & Support:

  • Act as an escalation point for employee concerns related to payroll, compliance, and HR policies
  • Conduct one-on-one discussions and provide guidance or counselling where required
  • Ensure effective communication and implementation of HR policies and procedures

Administration & Governance:

  • Oversee employee benefits administration, including mediclaim and related documentation
  • Ensure proper asset allocation and handover during onboarding and exit processes
  • Manage HR audits, MIS reporting, and data accuracy
  • Maintain organization structure, employee database, and relevant HR records

Team & Process Management:

  • Lead and mentor the HR operations team to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and implement automation initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and statutory requirements

Key Skills & Requirements:

  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in Payroll, Compliance, and HR Operations
  • In-depth knowledge of statutory compliance (PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Bonus, Gratuity, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with HRMS and payroll systems
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and MIS reporting)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA / Postgraduate in Human Resources or related discipline
  • Experience in managing compliance audits and multi-state payroll operations
  • Prior experience in team management 

Salary:

Upto - 6 LPA
