Job Summary
The Horticulture Expert is responsible for overseeing all horticultural, landscaping, and garden maintenance activities. The role involves supervising teams, ensuring the upkeep of green areas, managing plant health, and maintaining high aesthetic and environmental standards across sites.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily horticultural and landscape maintenance activities.
Plan and implement horticultural schedules for planting, pruning, mowing, irrigation, and pest control.
Ensure proper maintenance of lawns, trees, shrubs, flowerbeds, and indoor plants.
Monitor and maintain irrigation systems for optimal water use and plant health.
Manage and guide a team of gardeners, supervisors, and maintenance staff.
Inspect gardens and landscaped areas regularly to ensure quality and aesthetic standards.
Identify and resolve issues related to plant diseases, pest infestations, or soil conditions.
Prepare maintenance reports, plant inventories, and fertilizer/pesticide usage records.
Coordinate with clients, project managers, and landscape designers for ongoing and new projects.
Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards on all horticulture activities.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of horticultural practices, plant species, soil science, and irrigation systems.
Proven experience in landscape maintenance and team supervision.
Excellent organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
Ability to diagnose plant health problems and recommend corrective actions.
Good communication and reporting abilities.
Hands-on approach with attention to detail and quality.
Preferred Background
Experience managing horticultural operations in large residential, commercial, or public facilities.
Familiarity with landscaping in arid or semi-arid (Gulf) climates.
Knowledge of sustainable and eco-friendly landscape maintenance methods.
