Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for HMC Setters based in Coimbatore. The HMC Setter will be responsible for setting up and operating Horizontal Machining Centers according to production plans and engineering drawings. Daily tasks include selecting and installing tools, loading components, zero setting, adjusting offsets, and performing trial runs to achieve required dimensions and surface finish. The role involves monitoring machine operations, inspecting parts using measuring instruments, and making necessary corrections to maintain quality and productivity. The HMC Setter will also be expected to follow safety procedures, perform basic preventive maintenance, support troubleshooting, and coordinate with supervisors, quality teams, and fellow operators to meet delivery schedules.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in setting and operating Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC) in a production environment, preferably in precision engineering.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and machining symbols with good understanding of tolerances and fits.
  • Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other standard inspection tools.
  • Basic knowledge of CNC parameters, tool offsets, cutting tools, and machining processes for materials such as steel, cast iron, and alloys.
  • Attention to detail with strong focus on quality, safety, and housekeeping (5S or similar practices).
  • Ability to work in rotating shifts, manage time effectively, and meet production targets collaboratively with the team.
  • Diploma/ITI in Mechanical, Tool & Die, Production, or a related field; relevant hands-on experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Previous experience in automotive, valve, textile machinery, or general engineering component manufacturing will be an advantage.
