Job Summary:

The Plant HR Head is responsible for end-to-end ownership of HR, Industrial Relations, Time Office, Payroll, and Plant Administration at the unit level, ensuring uninterrupted operations, statutory compliance, and workforce stability. The role functions as a single-point coordinator between the Plant, Corporate HR, and Operations, with clear accountability for execution, governance, and reporting.

The position demands a compliance-first, data-driven, and execution-oriented mindset to manage blue- and white-collar workforce lifecycle, maintain industrial harmony, and ensure zero-defect payroll and statutory adherence. The incumbent is expected to deliver timely, structured MIS and risk escalations to Corporate HR and Operations, proactively managing people, compliance, and community interfaces in alignment with Gravita's organizational standards and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Workforce Lifecycle & Plant HR Operations

  • End-to-End Ownership (Join-to-Exit): Drive complete HR lifecycle management for blue- and white-collar workforce, including manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning interventions, engagement, and separations.
  • PMS & Culture Execution: Implement and manage the Blue-Collar PMS framework with measurable outcomes. Drive plant-level engagement, welfare, and culture initiatives aligned with Corporate HR directives.
  • Corporate Coordination: Ensure periodic and exception-based reporting on manpower, attrition, disciplinary cases, and engagement metrics to Corporate HR.

  • 2. Time Office & Payroll Governance

    • Operational Leadership: Lead the Plant Time Office and Payroll teams to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and system discipline.
    • Compliance-First Payroll: Ensure zero-defect compliance with PF, ESIC, PT, LWF, Factories Act, Contract Labour, and other applicable laws.
    • Reporting & Controls: Submit monthly payroll, attendance, and statutory compliance MIS to Corporate HR and Operations within defined timelines.

  • 3. Industrial Relations & Statutory Compliance

    • IR Stewardship: Manage manpower, negotiations, grievances, disciplinary actions, and dispute resolution to sustain industrial harmony and business continuity.
    • Authority Liaisoning: Act as the nodal point for labour departments, factories inspectorate, police, and other regulatory bodies.
    • Audits & Returns: Lead statutory audits, inspections, and filings. Ensure on-time submission of all statutory returns with documented evidence shared with Corporate HR.
    • Risk Escalation: Immediately escalate IR or compliance risks to Corporate HR and Operations with clear action plans.

  • 4. Plant Administration & Infrastructure

    • Administrative Control: Oversee security, housekeeping, canteen, transport, accommodation, and other employee facilities with a focus on cost, quality, and compliance.
    • Vendor & Budget Management: Manage administrative vendors and plant admin budgets; ensure cost optimization without compromising statutory or safety standards.
    • HSE Oversight (Admin Scope): Ensure adherence to HSE norms across administrative and employee-facing facilities in coordination with Operations and Safety teams.
    • Operational Reporting: Share monthly admin, cost, and facility performance reports with Corporate Operations.

  • 5. Community Relations & CSR Interface

    • Local Stakeholder Management: Manage community relations and represent the organization at local forums.
    • CSR Execution: Coordinate plant-level CSR activities in alignment with Corporate CSR strategy and reporting frameworks.
    • Governance Reporting: Ensure timely updates and documentation to Corporate HR / CSR teams.

    Education and Experience:

    • Education: Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with specialization in Human Resources and Operations.
    • Experience: 15+ years of progressive, plant-level experience in HR, Industrial Relations, Time Office, Payroll, and Administration within a manufacturing / process industry environment, with proven exposure to corporate coordination, statutory compliance, and governance-driven reporting.

    Key Skills:

    • Digital & Systems Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of HRIS, payroll and attendance systems, and advanced MS Office for data analysis, MIS, and decision support.
