MSSQL DBA Job Description:

Knowledge of Failover clustering, SQL server AlwaysOn Groups, SQL server mirroring, SAN replication, and other high availability technologies

Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the businesss Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)

Test backups to ensure we can meet the business Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)

Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends.

Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.

As new systems are brought in-house, choose whether to use clustering, log shipping, mirroring, Windows Azure, or other technologies.

Install and configure new SQL Servers

Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors.

When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes.

Document the companys database environment.

MSSQL DBA Job Requirements:

1. Experience on Microsoft SQL Server 2008,2012, 2014,2016,2017,2019,2022.

2. Production Support Activities (Installation, Upgradation and Troubleshooting).

3. Performance Tuning & troubleshooting

4. SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016/2017/2019/2022 Migration.

5. T-SQL Scripts for Administration and Monitoring tasks.

6. Microsoft Clustering services (MSCS) knowledge- Install/Configure/support.

7. Relevant knowledge of the operating system (2008, 2012,2016,2019) as far as MS-SQL databases is concerned.

9. High Availability (Log shipping, Replication and Mirroring) Always ON

10. User creation & maintenance, database log space monitoring and maintenance.

11. Good knowledge on Always on and high availability

12) Strong fundamentals of SQL.

13) Strong in SQL Architecture, Backup & Restore process.

14) Configuring CDC replication.

15) Configuring TDE in always on servers.

16) Knowledge on ITIL process.

17) Good communication, should be able to clarify issues with customer
