Healthcare Interface Support Engineer

About the Company

Vorro is the healthcare-focused unit of Basis Vectors Capital, based in Newark, New York. The broader organization is a growing company of 51-200 people, founded in 2019, with a presence across SaaS, venture capital, and private equity principals. Vorro operates in an environment that values speed, quality, and practical problem-solving, especially where work depends on precise coordination across technical and business stakeholders. The team looks for people who can take ownership, adapt quickly, and keep critical work moving without unnecessary delay. Clear communication, dependable execution, and strong collaboration matter here because the role touches business operations that need accuracy and responsiveness.

Company Practices & Ways of Working

  • The role follows a hybrid working model and a five-day schedule, with working hours aligned to US EST/PST coverage. This supports responsiveness across time zones while keeping execution steady.
  • The team values continuous learning and development, with a strong emphasis on career pathing and growth. That means the role is expected to deepen technical skill while contributing to reliable delivery.
  • Vorro's environment is inclusive, diverse, and highly performance-driven. Collaboration and clear communication are important because the work spans healthcare, IT, and regulatory stakeholders.

About the Role

This role is responsible for supporting end-to-end healthcare data integration solutions that move information accurately across systems and standards. The work centers on HL7, CCDA, and API/FHIR-based transactions, with a strong need to understand healthcare workflows and how data must travel through them. The engineer will troubleshoot issues, map data between standards, and help maintain dependable integration performance in a setting where timing and precision matter. The position is suited to someone who can work across technical tools and stakeholder groups, solve problems methodically, and keep healthcare transactions flowing without disruption. It is a hands-on support role with direct impact on the reliability of connected healthcare systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own support for healthcare interface workflows that move patient and operational data across systems, using HL7, CCDA, and FHIR-based transactions to maintain reliable exchange and reduce delivery risk.
  • Diagnose integration issues by reviewing logs, tracing message flow, and isolating failures quickly, so outages and data errors are resolved before they affect downstream healthcare operations.
  • Build and maintain mappings between healthcare standards and data formats, ensuring that information converts cleanly across engines, APIs, and system boundaries without losing meaning or structure.
  • Work with healthcare providers, IT teams, and regulatory stakeholders to keep integrations aligned with clinical and operational requirements, while avoiding gaps in data exchange.
  • Support API-driven transactions across SOAP and REST services, handling common methods and protocol dependencies so systems continue to communicate accurately and consistently.
  • Contribute to the reliability of integration platforms such as Mirth, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or similar tools, helping maintain stable interfaces across multiple healthcare workflows.
  • Handle common support tasks with strong prioritization and communication, so issues are tracked, escalated, and closed in a way that protects service continuity.

Essential Skills & Technologies

  • Hands-on experience with healthcare integration engines such as Mirth, Cloverleaf, Rhapsody, or comparable proprietary tools, with the ability to support and troubleshoot live interface traffic.
  • Strong working knowledge of HL7v2, CDA, FHIR, and API/FHIR-based exchanges, with practical understanding of how healthcare messages are structured and delivered.
  • Familiarity with healthcare workflows such as patient demographics, laboratory, pharmacy, and HIE use cases, so support decisions reflect real operational needs.
  • Comfortable working with common data formats including delimited files, JSON, XML, and HTML, and translating data across system boundaries without breaking downstream use.
  • Understanding of SOAP and REST services, including standard request methods, plus underlying protocols such as HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/SFTP, sockets, AS2, and TCP/IP.
  • Ability to investigate issues through logs, message traces, and system behavior, using structured troubleshooting to identify root cause and restore service quickly.
  • Exposure to authentication and access concepts such as OAuth2, LDAP, JWT, and tokens is preferred, along with familiarity in cloud environments such as PaaS, SaaS, and iPaaS.
  • Basic SQL querying and joins are helpful for support investigations, along with exposure to EDI X12, scripting, or tools like JIRA for organized issue management.

Additional Plus

  • Experience with EDI X12 formats is a strong advantage because it broadens the ability to support healthcare data exchange across adjacent operational workflows.
  • Knowledge of project or resource management tools such as JIRA helps maintain clear tracking, ownership, and follow-through on support issues.
  • Any programming or scripting experience is useful for automating small fixes, validating data flow, and reducing manual effort in recurring support scenarios.

What You'll Bring

  • 2-4 years of hands-on experience supporting healthcare integrations, with enough depth to work independently across interface issues and message flow challenges.
  • A practical troubleshooting mindset that uses logs, data traces, and system behavior to identify root causes quickly and restore reliable exchange.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills for working with technical, healthcare, and regulatory stakeholders without slowing down issue resolution.
  • Comfort operating in a time-sensitive support environment where accurate execution, ownership, and steady follow-through directly affect service reliability.

Why Join Us

This is a chance to work on healthcare integration support that has real operational consequences, where accurate data exchange supports critical workflows and stakeholder confidence. You will be part of a team that values ownership, responsiveness, and practical problem-solving, with work that spans standards, systems, and real-world healthcare use cases. The role offers a hybrid model, five-day working schedule, and coverage aligned to US business hours, making it well suited to someone who wants to build deeper experience in healthcare technology while working in a structured, growth-oriented environment. The broader culture emphasizes continuous learning, diversity, inclusion, and performance, which creates room to sharpen your skills while contributing to meaningful outcomes.

What We Offer

  • Hybrid working model with five working days and hours aligned to US EST/PST coverage, giving the role both structure and cross-time-zone relevance.
  • Continuous learning and development in an environment that supports growth, career pathing, and stronger technical capability over time.
  • A culture focused on workplace diversity, equality, inclusion, and high performance, so the team can collaborate effectively across different functions and backgrounds.
