Job Description

Role accountabilities:

  • Implementation and Compliance Across Regions: Guide Operations and Project Services in implementing HSW policies and procedures, ensuring global standards are upheld and adapted to local requirements.
  • Oversee Operations and Project Services risk assessments and compliance checks ensuring adherence to GHSMSS.
  • Global Standardization of Policies and Procedures: Coordinate and Enforce Standards: Oversee the maintenance and enforcement of standardized global HSW policies and procedures to ensure consistency across all regions while allowing for necessary local adaptations.
  • Development and Implementation: Manage the development, distribution, and implementation of HSW standards and procedures globally, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Regularly review and update HSW policies and procedures to reflect changes in regulations, emerging risks, and advancements in health and safety practices.
  • Project Management of Global Ways of Working with Operations and Project Services: Implementing global priorities effectively through standardized project management practices across operations and project services.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between GBAs/EFs and regions, promoting a unified approach to health, safety, and wellbeing.

Incident and Accident Investigations: Lead and support thorough investigations of accidents and incidents in collaboration with in-country teams.

  • Analyse investigation outcomes to identify root causes, develop corrective and preventive measures, and ensure lessons learned are communicated globally.
  • Monitoring international HSW Developments: Identify and assess emerging international trends, regulations, or developments in the HSW space that may impact the organization.
  • Advise leadership and regional teams on necessary actions or strategic adjustments to remain compliant and proactive.
  • Facilitating Cross-Business Coordination: Promote collaboration among global and regional business units, facilitating the sharing of best practices, lessons learnt and resources.
  • Support cross-business HSW initiatives, ensuring effective coordination and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Maintain high standards of quality across all HSW initiatives.
  • Execution of HSW audits (internal and external) by coordinating with internal teams and external auditors, preparing documentation, and facilitating audit processes and self-assessments.
  • Address audit findings by collaborating with teams to implement corrective actions and maintain a state of readiness for future audits.
  • Improve the quality of HSW programs and services globally aligned to Global Quality Management System.
  • Cultural and Regional Engagement: Foster a positive HSW culture worldwide, emphasizing cultural awareness and engagement in health, safety, and wellbeing practices.
  • Work with regional leaders to understand employee needs and promote participation in feedback mechanisms.
  • Systems and reporting: Proficiently navigate the Sphera, Cority and Oracle platforms to identify trends and prepare reporting.
  • This role may be expected to take on additional duties as requested by the H&S and H&W Director, which may encompass various aspects of other HSW specialist roles to support the delivery of our global HSW strategy, including automation and reporting, culture, capability and communications.
  • As such proficiency with H&S reporting systems and Smartsheet is essential.
