Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Hyderabad for a Health Safety Environment Engineer (HSE Engineer). The HSE Engineer will be responsible for implementing and managing health, safety, and environmental protocols in compliance with regulations and company standards. Their day-to-day responsibilities will include conducting risk assessments, developing safety programs, monitoring workplace practices, providing training sessions, and ensuring a safe and healthy work environment at all times. The HSE Engineer will work closely with operational teams to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Health & Safety and Environment Health and Safety (EHS) practices
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Engineering principles
  • Experience in conducting employee safety training and safety awareness programs
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, incident investigation, and compliance monitoring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Studies, or a related field
  • Relevant certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent is required.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and other relevant safety standards is an advantage

Key Responsibilities

Health & Safety

  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and SOPs in line with statutory requirements.
  • Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Factories Act, 1948, State Factory Rules, and other applicable safety laws.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and toolbox talks.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare incident reports and root cause analysis.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices on shop floors (fabrication, assembly, oil handling, testing areas).
  • Coordinate and conduct mock drills for fire, chemical spills, and emergency response.

Environmental Management

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Pollution Control Board (PCB) norms (air, water, hazardous waste).
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal.
  • Ensure compliance related to ETP/STP, oil handling, and spill prevention.
  • Maintain environmental records and statutory returns.

Legal & Compliance

  • Liaise with statutory authorities such as Factory Inspectorate, PCB, Fire Department, and Labor Department.
  • Ensure timely renewal of licenses, permits, and consents.
  • Support internal and external HSE audits, customer audits, and certification audits (ISO 14001 / ISO 45001).

Training & Awareness

  • Conduct HSE induction training for new employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Organize periodic safety training programs for employees and contract workers.
  • Promote safety awareness campaigns and continuous improvement initiatives.
