Job Description

Provides operational and administrative support for health, safety, and occupational health initiatives at the shop-floor level. Responsible for maintaining HSE data, supporting compliance with regulatory and company standards, assisting in medical and safety programs, and ensuring effective functioning of the Health Care Centre (HCC). Contributes to building a proactive safety culture and supports injury prevention, reporting, and employee wellness initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain local health & safety policies, procedures, and regulatory documentation.
  • Support reporting of work-related injuries, illnesses, and incidents through enterprise systems.
  • Track, analyze, and report monthly HSE metrics and trends.
  • Facilitate safety inspections, audits, and compliance programs.
  • Promote safety awareness and actively contribute to an injury-free workplace culture.
  • Stop work and report any major safety hazards immediately.

Medical & Occupational Health Support

  • Provide first aid and primary medical support to employees.
  • Assist Medical Officer in medical examinations and treatments.
  • Coordinate hospital referrals and accompany employees when required.
  • Maintain records of all medical cases including OPD, first aid, and injury incidents.
  • Conduct follow-ups for hospitalized or injured employees.
  • Support mandatory and non-mandatory health check-ups (e.g., 18A, 7A, audiometry, annual check-ups, etc.).
  • Participate in health and wellness initiatives and employee engagement programs.

Health Care Centre (HCC) Operations

  • Ensure continuous availability and functioning of the HCC during shifts.
  • Maintain hygiene, housekeeping, and operational readiness of the facility.
  • Manage medical inventory, equipment checks, and stock levels (including oxygen cylinders, AEDs, first aid kits).
  • Ensure biomedical waste disposal as per regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation (medical registers, audit records, training logs, etc.).

Training & Awareness

  • Coordinate and support delivery of health & safety and medical training programs.
  • Conduct mandatory trainings such as first aid, AED usage, and hygiene awareness.
  • Maintain training records and assist in training effectiveness analysis.

Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records for medical, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and dashboards on health trends and metrics.
  • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Assist in organizing health camps, blood donation drives, and CSR medical initiatives.

Operational Discipline (Internal Expectations)

  • Work in rotational shifts as per schedule.
  • Ensure proper shift handover and continuous HCC coverage.
  • Adhere strictly to attendance, leave protocols, and operational guidelines.
  • Participate in shop floor visits, mock drills, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience

  • Minimal or no prior work experience required.
  • Internship or exposure in occupational health, safety, or clinical support is an added advantage.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Diploma or 2-year degree in Industrial Safety, Occupational Health, or related field preferred.
