Job Purpose: Head - Engineering & Maintenance is responsible for overseeing and managing the engineering and maintenance operations of the airport, ensuring the effective and efficient functioning of all critical systems and infrastructure at Airside, Landside and Cityside of overall Airport. This role drives strategic initiatives related to maintenance, safety, sustainability, and cost optimization, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and corporate policies. The Head of Engineering Services is tasked with leading a high-performing team, implementing innovative solutions, and managing projects that enhance operational performance, safety, and passenger experience, all while controlling costs and ensuring timely delivery of projects aligned with the airport's long-term goals.

Responsibilities

Operation and Maintenance Strategy Development:

Develop and implement long-term strategies aimed at ensuring all engineering systems within the airport (civil, electrical & mechanical) are fully operational, reliable, and meet or exceed performance targets.

Recommend and oversee continuous improvements in work processes, materials, and equipment to enhance operational efficiency and service levels across all airport facilities.

Deploy industry, innovation and advances in technical and management field.

Develop procedures, process and systems / SOPs to ensure safe environment for all the stakeholders

Health, Safety, And Environmental (HSE) Compliance

Ensure the strict adherence to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a culture of safety that protects employees, passengers, and other stakeholders.

Lead the execution of regular safety audits, inspections, and emergency response training, ensuring full compliance with both internal and external regulatory standards, including those set by DGCA, CEA, and MOEF.

Cost Management And Optimization

Oversee the development and implementation of cost-effective strategies for R&M activities, focusing on reducing operational expenses while maintaining high service standards.

Optimize utility consumption and manage the disposal of idle assets or scrap by analyzing usage patterns and establishing efficient processes that minimize unnecessary spending.

Develop and deploy energy saving measures in line with industry development and best practices.

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

Define and implement performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of engineering and maintenance activities, focusing on asset reliability, uptime, operational efficiency, and maintenance costs.

Analyze data from maintenance logs, work orders, and other sources to track equipment performance and identify areas for improvement.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement by introducing advanced technologies and best practices to enhance team performance and system reliability.

Vendor And Contractor Management

Oversee the selection and management of vendors and contractors for both routine maintenance and major projects, ensuring that service contracts meet operational and performance requirements.

Negotiate contracts and ensure that service level agreements (SLAs) are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Ensure strong relationships with key stakeholders, including equipment manufacturers, service providers, and regulatory bodies.

Budgeting And Financial Planning

Lead the creation and management of the annual operating plan (AOP), ensuring that it aligns with the airport's long-term vision and financial objectives while controlling costs without compromising quality.

Continuously monitor the budget against actual expenses and provide timely updates to senior management, adjusting forecasts and cash flows to ensure efficient financial planning.

Keep management informed regarding actual expenditure, strategic project cost, physical condition of the airport or any other information required for management decision making.

Team Development And Leadership

Implement robust employee development programs through training, coaching, and mentorship, designed to enhance the technical skills and leadership capabilities of the engineering team.

Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by encouraging team participation in cross-functional activities, ensuring a constant exchange of knowledge, ideas, and best practices.

Special Projects And Sustainability Initiatives

Drive the successful execution of strategic projects related to sustainability, energy efficiency, and business excellence, ensuring that they align with the overall master plan for airport development.

Manage the planning, budgeting, and timely completion of special initiatives, such as new infrastructure projects or airport facility enhancements, ensuring that they meet quality, sustainability, and budgetary targets.

Qualifications

Work Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field)

Master's Degree in Engineering Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred)

Professional Certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma, ISO certifications, HSE certifications)

Relevant training or courses in Facility Management, Airport Operations, or Energy Management

Work Experience

10+ years of experience in engineering and maintenance, with a strong background in airport operations or large-scale facility management

5+ years of leadership experience in a senior management or head-level position within an engineering or facilities management department
