Responsibilities
Strategic Sustainability Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainable mining practices.
- Set and achieve sustainability targets, such as reducing carbon footprint, improving energy efficiency, and managing waste effectively.
- Lead and coordinate sustainability projects, including renewable energy integration, water conservation initiatives, and biodiversity preservation programs.
- Strategise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and promotion of sustainable practices.
- Monitor and report on the progress of sustainability initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations to senior management.
Regulatory Compliance Management
- Develop and maintain a regulatory compliance framework to ensure adherence to environmental laws and regulations, including the Coal Mines Regulation of 2017.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and authorizations, such as Consent to Establish (CTE), Consent to Operate (CTO), and hazardous waste authorizations.
- Prepare and submit all required compliance reports and documentation to regulatory bodies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain organized records of all permits, authorizations, and compliance reports for easy reference and regulatory audits.
- Conduct regular internal audits to identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare for and manage external regulatory audits, ensuring all findings are addressed promptly.
Environmental Monitoring and Reporting
- Develop and oversee environmental monitoring programs to track air and groundwater quality, ensuring compliance with statutory approvals.
- Utilize advanced monitoring equipment to collect accurate environmental data and maintain data integrity.
- Analyze environmental data to identify trends and potential issues, preparing detailed reports for submission to regulatory authorities.
- Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental performance reports, submitting them to the Site Head and Head Office.
- Implement and maintain an MIS for tracking and reporting environmental performance and compliance metrics.
Safety and Risk Management
- Conduct regular safety inspections in mining areas, coal washery areas, loading and unloading areas, and other critical locations.
- Identify safety hazards and gaps, updating safety management systems and implementing corrective actions.
- :Develop and implement emergency response plans for environmental and safety incidents.
- Conduct safety drills and training sessions to ensure preparedness and compliance with safety protocols.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with site management, environmental teams, and senior leadership to ensure alignment on sustainability and compliance objectives.
- Communicate sustainability and compliance requirements to all relevant departments, ensuring awareness and adherence.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, local communities, and other stakeholders to address environmental and compliance concerns.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on sustainability initiatives and compliance status to external stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on sustainability and compliance performance, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Implement and Optimize Digital Solutions
- Ensure the effective utilization of digital platforms to improve team efficiency and productivity.
