Job Description

About the Role:

The Head – Sales (Hybrid / Solar) will be responsible for driving sales and order inflow for Solar and Hybrid renewable energy projects, with primary focus on utility‑scale and large C&I solar projects and solar‑led hybrid solutions.

The role is execution‑oriented and customer‑facing, responsible for managing end‑to‑end sales cycles, customer relationships and deal closures and will work closely with internal engineering, projects, finance, and legal teams to deliver commercially viable and technically bankable Solar and Hybrid solutions.

Candidates with a strong solar background, particularly in solar modules, EPC sales, and project‑based contracting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Solar & Hybrid Sales Execution

  • Drive order inflow for Solar and Solar‑led Hybrid (Solar‑Wind / Solar‑Storage) projects.
  • Manage sales opportunities across utility‑scale, IPP and large C&I customers.
  • Support bids and tenders for SECI, state utilities and corporate solar procurement programs.
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline and ensure timely deal closures.

2. Customer & Account Management

  • Manage relationships with existing and new solar / hybrid customers.
  • Act as primary SPOC for customers during the sales and contracting phase.
  • Support repeat business and portfolio‑based opportunities with key customers.

3. Deal Management & Negotiation

  • Lead end‑to‑end sales cycles including lead qualification, proposal submission, negotiation and contract finalisation.
  • Support negotiation of EPC contracts, module supply, balance‑of‑plant scope, and hybrid configurations.
  • Ensure commercial terms, margins, and risk allocation align with internal approvals.

4. Solar Module & Solution Knowledge

  • Leverage strong understanding of solar module technologies and module supply considerations.
  • Support customers with module selection logic, pricing alignment and performance expectations.
  • Coordinate with internal teams on module sourcing, warranties, and delivery alignment.

5. Cross‑Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with engineering, projects, finance, procurement and legal teams for bid preparation and contract closure.
  • Ensure smooth handover from sales to execution after order award.
  • Support resolution of commercial or scope‑related issues during execution, as required.

6. Reporting & Governance

  • Maintain disciplined CRM updates, pipeline tracking and sales reporting.
  • Provide regular updates on deal progress, risks and expected closures.
  • Ensure adherence to internal approval and documentation processes.

7. Key Skills with total experience of 15+ years

  • At least 8 years of experience in Solar module / Solar EPC project sales
  • Strong background in utility‑scale solar and/or large C&I solar projects.
  • Good understanding of solar module technologies, pricing, warranties, and supply considerations.
  • Exposure to hybrid project sales is an advantage.
  • Experience in contract negotiations and project‑based sales.
  • Strong customer handling and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal technical and commercial teams.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Energy preferred).
  • MBA or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
