Job Description

  • Reports to: Chief People Officer

Role Purpose

Lead the people agenda for McDonald's restaurant operations, partnering with Business and Operations leadership to build a high-performing, engaged and future-ready workforce.

The role will lead Field People Resources and drive business outcomes through workforce planning, talent and succession, employee experience, leadership capability, employee relations, compliance and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic People Leadership

  • Partner with the CBO and Operations Leadership Team to deliver business outcomes through people strategies.
  • Advise senior leadership on workforce, talent, culture, organization effectiveness and people risks.
  • Lead organizational change and strengthen accountability for people outcomes across Operations.

Workforce Planning and Productivity

  • Ensure workforce availability and Team-in-Place readiness across restaurants, seasons and growth requirements.
  • Optimize workforce deployment, productivity and labour costs while supporting operational standards.

Employee Experience and Culture

  • Drive engagement, recognition and retention across the restaurant organization.
  • Foster an inclusive, performance-led culture with strong employee communication and listening mechanisms.
  • Use people insights to identify trends and implement focused interventions.

Talent and Leadership

  • Lead talent reviews, succession planning and retention strategies for critical Operations roles. Strengthen internal career pathways and leadership pipelines.
  • Partner with Training to build people-management and leadership capabilities across restaurant and field teams.

Performance Management

  • Drive effective performance management, coaching and development planning.
  • Build leadership accountability for performance differentiation, feedback and employee development.
  • Track key people outcomes, including staffing, attrition, engagement, succession, productivity and capability.

Employee Relations and Compliance

  • Provide governance for employee relations, investigations, grievances and disciplinary matters.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, company policies and audit requirements.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate people and workplace risks across the restaurant network.

Field People Resources Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Field People Resources team. Establish clear priorities, governance and service standards across regions.
  • Ensure consistent execution of the people agenda and strong partnership with Operations.

Candidate Profile

  • MBA / PGDM in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Labour Relations or equivalent.
  • 12–18 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership of Operations, Field HR or HR Business Partnering.
  • Experience in a large, multi-site and geographically dispersed organization.
  • Strong exposure to QSR, retail, hospitality, FMCG or another frontline-intensive sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, engagement and organizational change.
  • Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, stakeholder influence and execution discipline.
