Head of User Experience (UE) – India

Location: India

About the Role

We are looking for a Head of User Experience (UE) – India to lead our India-based UE Officer team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and managing a high-performing local UX team, delivering actionable user experience insights, and driving product improvements tailored to the Indian market. You will act as the key UX leader and voice of Indian users across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Lead & Build the India UE Team

  • Recruit, develop, and manage a team of User Experience (UE) Officers with strong local market insights and professional testing capabilities.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and career development guidance to help the team grow and succeed.

Own UX Testing Strategy

  • Define and continuously improve UX testing strategies and plans for the Indian market, with a strong focus on mobile-first experiences such as payments, social media, and localized apps.
  • Lead end-to-end, scenario-based UX testing across key user journeys, including communication, transportation, entertainment, shopping & payments, productivity, and health & lifestyle.

Deliver Actionable Insights

  • Ensure high-quality UX reports with clear, objective, and business-impactful insights.
  • Regularly share key UX trends, critical issues, and improvement recommendations with headquarters and global product teams.
  • Drive closed-loop execution, ensuring UX findings are translated into real product improvements.

Be the Voice of the Indian User

  • Develop deep understanding of Indian user behavior, cultural preferences, and competitive landscape.
  • Actively contribute to product requirement reviews and design discussions, advocating for local user needs.

Collaborate Globally

  • Work closely with product managers, R&D teams, QA leaders, and UX stakeholders across China and other international sites to align UX testing with product development.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing, UX research, or product management, with at least 2 years in a people management role.
  • Strong knowledge of UX testing methodologies and tools, with the ability to design complex, real-world test scenarios independently.
  • Excellent UX judgment and problem-solving skills, able to uncover deep user issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Solid data analysis skills to support UX insights and decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of the Indian mobile internet ecosystem, including payment habits, social platforms, and local app usage.
  • Fluent English communication skills (spoken and written).

Nice to Have

  • Proficiency in Indian local languages such as Hindi, Tamil, or others.
  • Experience working in large-scale internet companies or global product teams.
  • Power-user or expert-level experience in specific domains such as mobile payments, gaming, or social platforms.
