Position Overview
The Head of the Department (HoD) Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) at New Horizon College, Marathahalli, Bengaluru, will provide academic leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight to the BCA program. The HoD will ensure academic excellence, compliance with AICTE/UGC/University norms, faculty development, student success, and alignment with the institution's vision of innovation, industry relevance, and holistic education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic and administrative leadership to the BCA department.
- Plan, implement, and continuously review curriculum as per University, AICTE, and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure effective teachinglearning processes, evaluation, and outcome-based education (OBE).
- Lead faculty recruitment, mentoring, performance appraisal, and professional development.
- Promote research culture, publications, FDPs, workshops, certifications, and innovation activities.
- Facilitate industry interaction, internships, MoUs, guest lectures, and placement support.
- Monitor student academic progress, mentoring, discipline, and overall development.
- Ensure readiness and compliance for accreditation, audits, inspections, and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders for academic and institutional initiatives.
- Prepare departmental budgets, academic reports, NAAC/NBA documentation, and MIS data.
- Actively contribute to institutional committees, academic councils, and strategic initiatives.
Eligibility, Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant academic qualifications strictly as per AICTE / UGC / University norms.
- MCA / M.Tech with Ph.D. preferred
- Minimum 7 years of teaching experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership position.
Skills & Competencies
- Proven leadership and academic administration capabilities.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Thorough understanding of OBE, accreditation processes, and academic governance.
- Ability to mentor faculty, guide students, and build high-performing academic teams.
- Awareness of emerging technologies, industry trends, and employability skills.
- Proficiency in the local language is preferred.
