Head of Technology & AI | DigitalSpan

Full-time | Senior Leadership Role | Hybrid / Remote

DigitalSpan is a growing digital growth and technology company working with businesses across Europe and international markets. As we expand our capabilities in AI, automation, digital platforms and technology-enabled growth, we are looking for a Head of Technology & AI to build and lead our technology function.

This is not only a technical management position. We are looking for someone who can combine technology leadership, hands-on execution, AI thinking and commercial understanding.

What You Will Own

Technology Strategy & Leadership

- Define and execute DigitalSpan's technology and AI roadmap.

- Build scalable technology capabilities supporting our clients and internal growth.

- Evaluate technologies, platforms, APIs and tools and determine what we should build, buy, integrate or partner for.

- Establish strong standards for architecture, documentation, quality, security and delivery.

AI & Automation

- Lead the adoption of AI across DigitalSpan.

- Identify opportunities to use AI agents, automation and integrations to improve productivity and reduce repetitive work.

- Develop AI-enabled solutions that create measurable value for clients.

- Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies and convert relevant developments into practical applications.

Client Technology Solutions

- Understand client business challenges and translate them into practical technology solutions.

- Support the development of websites, digital platforms, CRM integrations, analytics, automation and AI solutions.

- Participate in important client discussions where technology expertise is required.

- Ensure solutions are commercially sensible, scalable and maintainable.

Technology Delivery

- Take ownership of technology projects from concept through implementation.

- Manage internal resources, freelancers, developers and external technology partners.

- Establish realistic timelines, responsibilities and quality standards.

- Ensure projects are properly documented and do not become dependent on one individual.

Data, Security & Compliance

- Establish good practices for data management, access control, backups and security.

- Ensure technology solutions consider GDPR and European data-protection requirements.

- Improve how DigitalSpan uses data for reporting, decision-making, marketing and client insights.

What We Are Looking For

- Approximately 7+ years of relevant technology experience, with demonstrated ownership of technology projects or teams.

- Strong understanding of modern web technologies, cloud platforms, APIs, databases and system integrations.

- Practical understanding of AI, LLMs, automation and AI-enabled workflows.

- Ability to understand both technology and business requirements.

- Experience managing developers, vendors or multidisciplinary technology teams.

- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

- Comfortable working directly with founders, business leaders and international clients.

- Ability to move between strategy and hands-on execution when required.

- Entrepreneurial mindset suited to a growing organization.

- Prior experience in the digital marketing space will be considered a strong plus, particularly exposure to SEO, websites, CRM, analytics, marketing automation, lead generation or MarTech.

What Success Looks Like

During the first 6–12 months, we expect the Head of Technology & AI to:

- Establish a clear technology and AI roadmap.

- Build a reliable technology delivery structure.

- Introduce practical AI and automation across internal operations.

- Reduce manual and repetitive work through technology.

- Improve technology documentation, security and scalability.

- Develop repeatable AI and technology solutions that can be offered to clients.

- Improve the speed and quality of technology project delivery.

- Build a technology function that can scale as DigitalSpan grows.

The Opportunity

DigitalSpan is at a stage where technology and AI will become a core part of our next phase of growth.

You will have the opportunity to build this function rather than simply inherit it.

You will work closely with the founder and leadership team and have significant ownership over how we use AI, automation and technology to create measurable business growth for DigitalSpan and our clients.

We are particularly interested in people who enjoy building, experimenting and taking ownership, rather than waiting for detailed instructions.
