Title

Head of Subcontracts Management

The Sub-Contracts Manager is an integral member of the businesses operational function. Working in collaboration with Subject Matter Expert's (SMEs) (e.g. Legal, Tax, Insurance, Finance, Supply Chain, Project Controls, Sales, Project Management, Engineering and Construction) the Subcontracts Manager will ensure both corporate and project related activities are delivered in line with KBR's policies and procedures and policy and contractual requirements, minimising risk and maximining commercial opportunities.

Pre-contract duties (where assigned to a project on a full-time basis)

  • Responsible for the management and leadership of all pre and post subcontracting activities including the oversight of all project and / or corporate subcontracts engineers and/or quantity surveyors, ensuring an optimised working environment update.
  • Assess and owns the resourcing requirements of both project and location subcontracting requirements.
  • Ensures the subcontract teams understanding of contractual requirements with regard to schedule obligations, notices, milestones, KPIs, progress measurement etc. Warrants that any necessary contractual notices are served in accordance with the terms of the subcontract, including client approvals, reporting requirements, preparation and submission of variation and contract amendment requests.
  • Ensure that technical and commercial negotiation evaluations and strategies are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Compiles tender documentation, ensuring that the packages are complete and viable. Strategises and holds tender clarification meetings.
  • Facilitates the flow of information to and from tenderers. Issue tender bulletins and clarification documentation.
  • Is able to lead negotiations with third parties, ensuring business, project and client obligations and deliverables are recognised, developing mitigating measures and managing commercial risk
  • With minimum supervision, is able to draft and negotiate non-disclosure agreements, bonds, warranties, guarantees and the like.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Law, Finance, Management, or Quantity Surveying (technology or equivalent) along with appropriate professional qualification (preferred)
  • RICS, CICES, CIOB qualified or industry equivalent skills and training appropriate for the role

Experience

  • Experience in the oil and gas, petrochemical and renewable energy and energy transition contracting environments
  • 15 years experience in a similar role with leadership experience
  • A sound knowledge of different contracting strategies, the pros, and cons of different approaches
  • Has a strong appreciation of industry recognised commercial and contractual terms and conditions.
