leader to spearhead our Performance Marketing division.
Why This Role Exists:
Social media at Basil has operated as a delivery function: post schedules, content calendars, and monthly reports. The 2026 vision requires social media to become a strategic service that drives measurable business outcomes for clients. This person will transform social from a support function to a profit centre, owning social strategy across industries as diverse as real estate, healthcare, enterprise tech, and D2C. The role interfaces heavily with performance marketing (paid social), creative (content quality).
What You'll Own:
Social media strategy for all client accounts: platform selection, content pillars, posting cadence, community management frameworks, and growth roadmaps
Client social media audits and strategic recommendations: every new client gets a social audit with competitive benchmarking and a 90-day plan
Content strategy (not just content creation): defining what types of content drive results on which platforms for each industry vertical
Social media as a lead generation channel: integrating social strategy with paid social, CRM funnels, and WhatsApp automation
Organic social performance metrics and reporting framework: moving beyond vanity metrics to engagement quality, traffic attribution, and lead contribution
Platform innovation: evaluating and piloting emerging platforms (Threads, LinkedIn newsletters, YouTube Shorts, etc.) based on client fit
Influencer and creator strategy where relevant: identifying collaboration opportunities and managing KOL partnerships
Building and managing the social media team: hiring social media managers, content creators, and community managers
Social listening and reputation management frameworks for clients
The Strategy Mandate
To be clear about what strategy-driven means in this context:
You will NOT be writing Instagram captions daily. You will define the content strategy that your team executes.
You will present social media strategies to CMOs and business owners, not just marketing managers.
You will be measured on business impact: leads generated from social, brand share of voice, and social-attributed revenue through Growth OS tracking.
You will sit in quarterly business reviews with clients and defend the social strategy with data.
You will work with the Head of Performance to ensure paid and organic social strategies are complementary, not competing.
What Success Looks Like in 90 Days
Social audit completed for all active clients with clear strategic recommendations and 90-day growth plans
Social media playbook created for Basil: standardised frameworks for social strategy across verticals (real estate, healthcare, tech, D2C)
Content pillar strategy defined for top 5 clients with measurable KPIs beyond likes and follows
Social-to-CRM attribution model designed in collaboration with the Growth OS team
Team rebuilt: at least 2 social media managers hired and operational
Led at least 3 client social strategy presentations independently
You Must Have:
7-10 years in social media, with at least 3 years in a strategy/leadership role at an agency or brand
Proven track record of building social media strategies that drove measurable business outcomes (leads, revenue, market share), not just follower growth
Deep platform expertise: Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter/X. You understand the algorithm and content dynamics of each.
Experience with social media analytics and reporting: Sprout Social, Hootsuite, native analytics, Google Analytics for social traffic attribution
Client-facing strategy experience: you've presented to C-suite stakeholders and can articulate social ROI in business terms
Experience managing multi-client social portfolios (5+ clients simultaneously)
Team management experience: you've built and led social media teams
Strong Advantages:
Paid social expertise (Meta Ads, LinkedIn Ads) in addition to organic, allowing you to think holistically about social spend and content
Experience with social-to-CRM integration: understanding how social content feeds into lead nurturing and marketing automation
Industry experience in real estate, healthcare, or B2B tech social media
Understanding of SEO/AEO and how social content supports search visibility
Influencer marketing and creator economy expertise
Comfort with AI tools for social media: scheduling, content ideation, analytics, and trend prediction
What This Role is NOT:
A content creator role: you define what gets created, not produce every piece yourself
A community manager: your team handles daily engagement, you handle strategy and escalations
A reporting-only role: you own the strategy and are accountable for outcomes, not just dashboards
Disconnected from performance: you will integrate deeply with paid media and CRM teams, not operate in a social silo
