GalaxEye is looking for a Head of Satellite to lead end-to-end spacecraft execution for our next-generation Earth observation missions. This role will own satellite development from architecture and subsystem integration through AIT, launch readiness, and early on-orbit handover.
You will lead cross-functional engineering across payload, avionics, ADCS, structures, thermal, EPS, software, mission operations, and external partners to deliver a flight-ready spacecraft for a category-defining multi-sensor EO platform.
We're looking for a hands-on leader with deep experience in spacecraft systems engineering, payload-bus integration, AIT, and mission execution someone who can combine technical depth with executional urgency in a high-ownership environment.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end ownership of spacecraft delivery from mission definition through launch and LEOP support.
- Spacecraft system architecture, design integration, and subsystem-level technical alignment.
- Program execution across schedule, technical milestones, engineering maturity, integration readiness, and test closure.
- Own technical reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR, and launch readiness milestones.
- Drive cross-functional execution across avionics, ADCS, thermal, structures, power, software, and mission ops
- Oversee AIT, qualification, vendor coordination, and launch readiness
- Build and lead a high-performance satellite engineering team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in spacecraft development, with significant ownership of satellite systems delivered through integration and test.
- Experience with Earth observation satellites, especially optical, SAR, or multi-sensor payloads.
- Strong understanding of spacecraft subsystems, including structures, thermal, EPS, OBC/C&DH, ADCS, communications, payload integration, and flight software interfaces.
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering, verification and validation, AIT, and launch preparation.
- Experience managing complex technical programs involving suppliers, external partners, and mission-critical schedules.
- Strong grasp of engineering trade-off analysis, margin management, failure investigation, and risk retirement.
What You'll Love About GalaxEye
- Work on category-defining Earth observation technology.
- Own meaningful systems that go from concept to orbit.
- Operate in a culture of first-principles thinking, autonomy, and deep technical honesty.
- Build with a team that cares equally about speed, rigor, and mission impact.
