1.Role Purpose
The Head of Quality will be responsible for establishing and leading the end-to-end Quality function across Green Hydrogen & Derivatives, Wind, and Solar energy projects. This is a ground-up role — the incumbent will design and implement quality processes, systems, and culture in an organization where structured quality frameworks are yet to be built. Working closely with Engineering, Procurement, Projects, and Operations teams, the role demands a hands-on, collaborative leader who can translate quality thinking into practical, field-ready processes.
The Head of Quality will be the organization's quality conscience — ensuring excellence across supplier, construction, commissioning, and operational phases while aligning with international standards, ESG commitments, and long-term organizational strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement the organization-wide Quality Strategy aligned with business and project goals.
- Establish quality vision, policies, and objectives from the ground up.
- Lead quality budgeting, resource planning, and team building.
- Champion a quality-centric culture and drive continuous improvement across all departments.
- Report quality performance, risks, and improvement plans directly to the CTO.
Process Development & IMS Implementation
- Lead the collaborative development of all quality processes, SOPs, work instructions, and formats across departments — working with all key stakeholders.
- Design and implement an Integrated Management System (IMS) aligned with ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), and ISO 45001 (Safety).
- Develop company-level processes, department-level SOPs, and project-specific quality plans.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops to map, validate, and embed processes across Engineering, Procurement, and Projects.
Document Management System (DMS)
- Establish and own the Document Control function within the Quality department.
- Build a robust DMS covering engineering documents, statutory documents, drawings, quality records, inspection records, and vendor documents.
- Define workflows for document creation, review, approval, version control, and distribution.
- Ensure all controlled documents are audit-ready, current, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
Field Quality Management
- Oversee QA/QC activities at project sites — covering mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil, and pipeline systems.
- Ensure implementation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs), and checklists at site.
- Monitor construction quality, welding/NDT inspections, testing activities, and commissioning readiness.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards including ASME, ASTM, and ISO.
Supplier Quality & Vendor Development
- Establish and manage the Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) framework including vendor evaluation, qualification, and performance monitoring.
- Drive vendor development for critical packages such as electrolyzers, compressors, pipelines, and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Conduct supplier audits at manufacturing locations and manage non-conformances.
- Embed quality requirements in vendor contracts and procurement workflows in collaboration with the Procurement team.
Audits, NCR & CAPA Management
- Plan and conduct internal audits, supplier audits, and site quality audits.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) closure.
- Track audit findings, NCR trends, and rework rates — ensuring timely closure and lessons learned.
NDT & Technical Standards (Preferred)
- Provide expert guidance on welding procedures (WPS/PQR/WPQ) and NDT techniques (RT, UT, PT, MT).
- Review and approve inspection methodologies, acceptance criteria, and technical quality submittals.
- Ensure compliance with relevant technical standards across all project phases.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Define and track Quality KPIs across projects and suppliers — including NCR trends, rework rates, vendor performance, and audit scores.
- Prepare and present quality dashboards and reports for senior management.
- Drive data-based decision making for quality improvements across the organization.
Quality Training & Capability Building
- Develop and deliver quality training programs across the organization to build awareness and ownership.
- Coach project and functional teams on quality standards, documentation, and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering — Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field.
- 12–15 years of total experience in Quality, with at least 4–5 years in a Quality Leadership role.
- Experience must be in industrial, energy, EPC, or infrastructure project environments — renewable energy or green hydrogen background strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience building quality systems and processes from scratch in a growing organisation.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IMS frameworks.
- Practical knowledge of NDT techniques, welding standards, and field QA/QC in projects.
- Experience in establishing and managing Document Control / DMS functions.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Engineering or Quality Management.
- Prior exposure to Green Hydrogen, Industrial Gases, Oil and Gas, and Power project environments.
