Head of Quality Control

Head – QA/QC, Steel Casting Foundry

We are looking for an experienced QA/QC Head to lead the quality function in our steel casting foundry. The role will be responsible for quality systems, laboratory operations, audit compliance, customer quality, defect reduction, and team leadership. The candidate must ensure that all castings meet customer specifications, applicable standards, and internal quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC systems, SOPs, and inspection plans across the foundry.

• Lead internal, external, and customer audits; close non-conformances through CAPA.

• Oversee chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical testing labs, including calibration and test traceability.

• Monitor process quality in melting, molding, pouring, fettling, heat treatment, and final inspection.

• Review heat-wise test reports, product acceptance criteria, and release of castings.

• Drive root cause analysis for defects, rejections, rework, and customer complaints.

• Support customer inspections, product approvals, and technical discussions.

• Lead and train a quality team, promote quality discipline, and improve KPI performance.

Qualification And Experience

• B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

• Around 15–25 years of experience in QA/QC, preferably in steel casting, alloy steel, forging, or foundry operations.

• Strong knowledge of metallurgical testing, defect analysis, ISO systems, and audit handling.

• Leadership experience managing quality engineers, lab staff, and inspection teams.

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of steel casting defects and corrective actions.

• Familiarity with NDT methods such as RT, UT, MT, and PT.

• Strong understanding of standards, customer specifications, and foundry process control.

• Good communication, documentation, and people-management skills.
