Job Description

Role Purpose

The Head Of Quality Control is a senior leadership role responsible for maintaining and continuously improving company-wide quality standards, ensuring zero-defect performance across global shipments, and driving full regulatory compliance across all markets.

This role owns the quality mindset, regulatory strategy, audit readiness, documentation systems, and operational discipline necessary to protect brand reputation, meet international standards, and support sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality Strategy & Zero-Defect Mandate
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve company-wide quality standards aligned with global best practices.
  • Enforce a zero-defect mindset across all manufacturing, sourcing, packaging, and shipment activities.
  • Ensure quality failures and customer complaints remain 0.05% of total output.
  • Lead root-cause analysis, Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA), and rapid issue resolution for any deviation.
  • Act as the final authority on quality release decisions and escalation of critical quality risks.
  • Quality Systems, Audits & Labs
  • Strengthen and oversee:
    • Internal audit systems
    • Quality Control laboratories
    • Sampling plans and inspection protocols
    • Certificate of Analysis (COA) and certificate management systems
  • Ensure audit readiness at all times for customers, regulators, and certification bodies.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data-driven quality reviews and risk assessments.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Certifications
  • Maintain and manage all relevant global and regional certifications, including but not limited to:
    • FDA
    • FSMA
    • BRC
    • HACCP
    • GMP
    • WFT
    • USDA
    • EU regulatory compliance
  • Lead regulatory engagement, inspections, submissions, renewals, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure proactive monitoring of regulatory changes and translate them into operational controls.
  • Nepal Regulatory Oversight
  • Oversee and manage all regulatory requirements in Nepal, including:
    • DFTQC
    • CAPEXIL
    • Other relevant governing and export bodies
  • Secure and maintain all necessary certifications, licenses, and approvals.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities and government agencies.
  • Documentation & Quality Management Systems
  • Design, implement, and monitor robust operational programs and supporting documentation, including:
    • SOPs
    • Work instructions
    • Quality manuals
    • Regulatory files
    • Training records
  • Build a strong, audit-proof documentation culture across the organization.
  • Ensure document control, version management, and compliance with QMS requirements.
  • Leadership, Team Development & Culture
  • Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing team of Directors, Managers, and quality professionals.
  • Build a culture of ownership, urgency, transparency, accountability, and discipline.
  • Enforce leadership presence on the shop floor and in operations.
  • Set clear expectations, KPIs, and performance standards for all quality and regulatory teams.
  • Operational Governance & Performance Management
  • Enforce daily scrum standards, KPI tracking, and cross-functional accountability.
  • Present monthly performance dashboards, covering:
    • Revenue
    • Production
    • Quality Control
    • Finance
    • CAPEX
    • Human Resources
    • Strategic milestones
  • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) meetings, ensuring quality and compliance are embedded in all business decisions.
Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, Quality Management, Regulatory Affairs, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in quality control, regulatory affairs, or operations, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
  • Strong working knowledge of international food/product safety and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing audits, certifications, and government inspections.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and drive cultural change.
