Lane is building India's most trusted, tech-enabled driving and mobility platform, transforming how first-time drivers learn, navigate mobility, and eventually buy their first car.

You will operate at the intersection of driving education, instructor supply and utilization, RTO and compliance coordination, multi-city operations, and a curated used car marketplace designed specifically for first-time buyers. As we expand across cities, we are focused on building strong, scalable operational foundations that support long-term, sustainable growth.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Head of Operations who has built and scaled complex, multi-city operational systems and thrives in high-growth, fast-moving environments. This is not a desk role it requires strong on-ground execution and leadership. You will build and scale Lane's instructor ecosystem, design scalable operational playbooks, and lead the launch and stabilization of new cities.

You will drive utilization, margins, and city-level P&L performance while working closely with RTOs and regulatory stakeholders. The role involves hiring and leading multi-city operations teams and bringing structure, discipline, and clarity to high-growth chaos

Key Responsibilities

Instructor Supply & Ecosystem

  • Scale instructor acquisition across cities
  • Build onboarding, verification & quality systems
  • Improve utilization and instructor earnings
  • Create performance tracking & retention frameworks

Multi-City Expansion

  • Launch and stabilize new cities
  • Build repeatable city ops playbooks
  • Ensure SLA, GMV, conversion & margin control
  • Create scalable replication frameworks

Government, Compliance & Systems Architecture

  • Coordinate with RTOs and local authorities to ensure smooth regulatory operations
  • Build and maintain compliant DL/LL and training processes
  • Manage documentation, approvals, and regulatory alignment across cities
  • Develop SOPs, checklists, and escalation matrices for operational control
  • Improve scheduling, allocation efficiency, and SLA adherence
  • Identify and reduce operational leakage and margin erosion
  • Partner with tech teams to automate workflows and strengthen system architecture

Team, Leadership & P&L Ownership

  • Hire city ops managers and field teams
  • Build KPI frameworks & reporting structures
  • Create a high-accountability performance culture
  • Drive alignment across sales, tech & support
  • Own city-level economics
  • Improve CM1 / CM2
  • Optimize cost structures
  • Track utilization & operational efficiency

Ideal Candidate

  • 712+ years in operations
  • Experience scaling multi-city businesses
  • Built operational playbooks from scratch
  • Managed 20+ member on-ground teams
  • Experience in mobility / logistics / hyperlocal / gig platforms
  • Comfortable working with government bodies
  • Strong structured thinker + hands-on executor
  • Data-driven, high ownership, zero-ego
  • Early-stage startup scaling experience is a strong plus.
