Position Title: Head of Marketing– UNSW Bengaluru

Position Summary
The Head of Marketing is accountable for shaping and operationalising the UNSW Bengaluru marketing strategy and annual operating plan into high-impact campaign execution that drives awareness, demand, applications, and enrolments across priority student cohorts. The role leads day-to-day execution of marketing and content operations for the Bengaluru campus, ensuring campaigns are localised to the market context while ensuring all activity in market is coordinated with UNSW Sydney to present a unified brand and student experience.
Operating within UNSW Sydney's global brand, marketing, and student recruitment governance framework, the role is responsible for delivering integrated, data-led marketing and student recruitment campaigns across the full student funnel, ensuring all activity is aligned, approved, and compliant with UNSW Marketing & Digital Experience (M&DX) playbooks, brand standards, and regulatory requirements.
Accountabilities
Future Student Marketing Strategy
- D evelop and execute the UNSW Bengaluru marketing strategy and annual operating plan, aligned to UNSW's Marketing and Digital Experience strategic ambitions and priorities, broader University global priorities with appropriate localisation to account for the local market context.
- Operate within UNSW Sydney's global brand governance model, ensuring all campaign and content activity is aligned with defined Playbooks, with appropriate approvals and compliance to defined frameworks and processes.
Campaigns, Content & Brand Leadership
- Co-develop and deliver integrated marketing and content campaigns across paid, owned, shared and earned channels, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment across the full student funnel, with localisation to the Indian market.
- Ensure all marketing activity reflects UNSW Sydney guiding principles and playbooks: marketing policies, brand standards, approval workflows, and compliance controls and positions UNSW Bengaluru as a distinctive, high-quality destination for students.
- Manage content operations including editorial calendars, production workflows, and asset management to support campaign delivery and speed-to-market.
- Manage digital experience operations including website, digital performance campaigns, email marketing to support performance marketing lead generation, nurture and conversion campaigns
- Drive a performance-focused approach to campaign, content and channel execution, embedding testing, optimisation, and continuous improvement to deliver against agreed performance targets.
- Coordinate local public relations activity input into broader UNSW Sydney PR strategy, in collaboration with UNSW Corporate Communications and M&DX teams and retained UNSW PR Agency, including local spokesperson preparation, press release, media lists and coverage, and crisis/risk communications protocols.
- Execute and manage media campaigns across search, social, video, display, OOH, and relevant platforms, in line with approved plans, objectives, flighting schedules, and performance benchmarks.
- Ensure brand safety, transparency, and compliance across all digital media activity, in accordance with UNSW Marketing & Digital Experience playbooks and procurement requirements.
Performance, Insights & ROI
- Monitor and manage campaign performance, lead generation, conversion, and enrolment outcomes against agreed targets and KPIs.
- Use data, insights, and market intelligence to drive prioritisation, optimisation, and investment decisions.
- Deliver clear, consistent reporting on marketing effectiveness, ensuring accountability for performance outcomes and return on investment.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
- Build strong working relationships with UNSW Bengaluru leadership, faculties, admissions, and student recruitment stakeholders to ensure alignment and shared ownership of outcomes.
- Operate within a matrixed global environment, collaborate with UNSW Sydney marketing, digital, and student recruitment teams to ensure alignment with global frameworks and effective knowledge transfer.
- Manage external agency partners in line with defined scopes of work, performance expectations, and governance requirements, ensuring continuous optimisation and value delivery.
- Support vendor governance processes including briefing, performance reviews, and compliance with procurement and governance requirements.
Financial & Resource Management
- Plan, manage, and monitor future student marketing and content budgets in line with campus priorities, finance requirements, and procurement policies.
- Allocate and optimise resources across priority markets, cohorts, and campaigns to maximise performance outcomes and return of investment.
People Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing marketing, content and digital experience team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Build team capability in data-led marketing, content delivery, digital marketing and campaign execution aligned to defined frameworks and operating models within growing campus environment.
Governance, Values & Safety
- Actively demonstrate alignment with the UNSW Code of Conduct and Values.
- Ensure all marketing activities comply with applicable regulatory, privacy, and advertising requirements, maintain audit-ready documentation and records.
- Comply with all health, safety, and wellbeing policies and take reasonable care to ensure actions do not impact the psychosocial or physical health and safety of self or others.
Essential
Skills & Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification with extensive experience in marketing, content, and campaign leadership, or equivalent competence gained through education, training, or experience.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale, performance-driven marketing and recruitment campaigns.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to set targets, manage complex plans, and evaluate return on investment.
- Proven marketing leadership experience, including people leadership and agency management.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing capability with senior leaders.
Desirable
- Experience working in higher education or similarly regulated, complex environments.
- Experience working in or with international or emerging markets, particularly India.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing platforms, content strategy, and marketing analytics.
- Experience supporting organisational establishment, transformation, or scale-up.
