We are looking for an experienced legal leader to head the legal function of a large industrial/manufacturing organization based in Kolkata.
This is a strategic leadership role reporting to the senior management team and offers an opportunity to lead legal operations across multiple locations while partnering closely with business leaders on critical legal, commercial, governance, and risk matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the organization's legal function across multiple locations.
- Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and litigation matters.
- Manage litigation, arbitration, disputes, and legal risk across the business.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, service, project, EPC, and international contracts.
- Advise on Company Law, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code (IBC), corporate governance, and compliance-related matters.
- Develop and standardize contract templates, legal playbooks, and governance frameworks.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organization.
- Manage relationships with external counsels, law firms, and regulatory authorities.
- Support policy reviews and provide legal inputs on HR, IR, compliance, ethics, and governance matters.
- Build, mentor, and develop the in-house legal team.
- Drive digitization and process improvements within the legal function.
- Oversee legal MIS, case tracking, compliance reviews, and reporting mechanisms.
Ideal Candidate
- LLB is mandatory; LLM preferred.
- 15–20 years of post-qualification experience.
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, engineering, infrastructure, metals, power, energy, chemicals, EPC, or similar sectors.
- Strong exposure to litigation management, arbitration, commercial contracts, company law, compliance, and corporate governance.
- Experience leading a legal function or serving as a senior member of a corporate legal team.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders and provide commercially sound legal advice.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
