Job Description

About Sinclairs

Sinclairs Hotels & Resorts is one of eastern India's most established hospitality names, operating nine properties across the country's hills, plains and coastline, from Himalayan resorts to a beachfront hotel in the Andamans. We are a listed, debt-free group with a strong cash position, now in an active expansion phase and transforming how we run: our commercial discipline, our people systems and our technology.

The Role

You will be the group's first Head of HR, building the people function for nine properties and a growing head office. Sinclairs is transforming how it runs, and people are the biggest part of that: hiring the leaders and specialists the next phase needs, putting in place a grade framework, performance and incentive systems that work across very different properties, and building a culture that attracts and keeps talent in locations from Darjeeling to Port Blair.

This is a builder's role. You will set policy and you will also run recruitment drives, sit in on property appraisals, handle the hard conversations and travel to the properties to understand the people who work there.

What You'll Own

  • Talent acquisition for head office and property leadership; employer brand; hiring from the top hotel groups and beyond
  • - Organisation design, grade framework, role definitions and the group incentive scheme
  • - Performance management, appraisals and succession planning for general managers and department heads
  • - Learning and development, including a group training school and a pipeline of talent from the communities around our properties
  • - HR policy, compliance and statutory requirements across states (PF, ESI, labour laws, contracts)
  • - Compensation benchmarking and structures; payroll oversight with finance
  • - Employee relations, engagement and retention across the estate
  • - HR systems and data: a single, reliable view of the group's people

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years in HR with at least 3 leading the function for a multi-location business; hotels or hospitality strongly preferred
  • - Has built or substantially rebuilt an HR function, policies and systems
  • - Hands-on recruiting record for senior and specialist roles
  • - Strong working knowledge of Indian labour law and statutory compliance across states
  • - Experience designing grade structures, incentive schemes and performance frameworks
  • - Clear communicator with judgement, discretion and the ability to influence general managers and leadership
  • - Based in Mumbai or Kolkata, willing to travel regularly to the properties

Where This Goes

Founding HR seat for a group in expansion; progression to Chief People Officer as the estate and the team scale.
