We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Fund Operations Bangalore.

The Global Fund Services Function(GFS) function is cross-border global team comprising the operations staff of Asset Management's (AM) Fund Management Companies and supported by the GFS team in the Global Service Centre in Bengaluru.

Based in India, the Head of Global Fund Services (GFS), is a senior leadership role responsible for managing and optimizing the GFS target operating model in the Global Service Centre in Bengaluru. This includes supporting the oversight of any outsourced or delegated back-office processes and ensuring regulatory compliance for both Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) and Alternatve Funds.

The Head of GFS India will be a collaborative leader who can develop a vision for what great looks like and create a roadmap to achieve that vision. The role holder must have proven experience and demonstrated ability to deliver on that roadmap and produce results. They need to work closely and collaborate across functions with the GFS Capability Leads, across regions in EMEA and APAC and across departments such as with Investment Ops, Technology etc. to ensure efficient Fund operations and excellent service delivery to stakeholders.

Principal Responsibilities

Role holder will be responsible for leading several elements of the GFS Operational model:

  • As Head of GFS India, management of the day-to-day fund operational activities locally and support AM's transformation into a market leading operating model.
  • As Head of GFS India to lead /support a market leading fund service proposition which delivers values for clients / shareholders and supports the growth of the AM business as an efficient and scale Client centric business.

The role holder will report functionally to the Head of GFS and from a legal entity perspective to the Head of Asset Management in India.

The role holder is responsible for ensuring that the GFS team locally support the wider HSBC funds business to deliver a market leading service proposition which delivers value to its customers, in accordance with relevant regulatory requirements, supporting the commercial growth of AM as a client centric business

Leadership And Team Management

  • Be accountable for the day-to-day fund operations and support for product related activities of GFS, working closely with the Capability Heads and reporting to the Global Head of GFS.
  • Active and engaged member of the GFS leadership team and wider AM senior leadership teams. Serve as a key point of contact with senior management to ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables.
  • Promote client experience through operational framework and processes, including automation and prioritization forums.
  • Work with the Head of GFS and Capability leads to design and build a globally consistent, commercially competitive and client centric, operating model for GFS, which supports AM's growth across both UCITS and Alternatives and ensure the model remains fit for purpose.
  • Lead the implementation of the global target operating models that supports the delivery GFS and AMs business strategies including aligning people, culture and process across the functions and regions.
  • Drive a cultural change from working in local silos to a global operating model.
  • Champion the use of offshore resource and automation to create scale and improve profitability.
  • Drive Collaboration and provide support to GFS teams globally as appropriate.
  • Support the delivery of strategic (organic and inorganic) and cross-border growth initiatives.

Team Management

  • Create a cross-business environment that supports innovation, continuous process improvement and new ways of working including: a cultural shift from working in regional silos to a global operating model, sustainability, and cross-business ideation.
  • Lead and mentor the local team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance. Champion the AM Diversity and Inclusion agenda.
  • Build and support a strong, participative, diverse, accountable, and empowered team, based on talented individuals with the right skills for the future, with clearly defined roles and responsibilities that promote the use of offshore processing resource / automation.

Commercial Development

  • Work with department / functional heads to proactively ensure that all service providers deliver value and benefit to AM and its clients / investors and are continuously enhancing their proposition.
  • Support the GFS strategic evolution globally towards a focused provider partnership model with core panel providers who can provide best in class service proposition on partnership pricing terms.

Requirements

  • Defining and delivering a robust and scalable target operating model for GFS.
  • Realignment of onshore staff on a cross-border basis to support the global operating model.
  • Adoption of the global target operating model including transferring processing work offshore where appropriate.
  • To manage effectively multiple local teams as a single global business organization.
  • Delivery of business growth objectives whilst simultaneously delivering a significant change programs and meeting client / investor and fund board expectations.
  • To manage the balance between effective execution of day-to-day operations and services whilst delivering a substantial change agenda.
  • To deal with a range of complex issues with conflicting and changing priorities.
  • Ensure that GFS meets all relevant regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • To respond to constantly increasing regulatory demands within existing capability and capacity constraints.
  • To stay abreast of external developments in global regulation, market trends and competitor activity impacting the businesses.
  • Support, evolve and meet the needs and expectations of clients and fund boards.
  • Ensure issues / incidents are identified, documented and resolved quickly or escalated to the relevant parties and any mistakes are learned from.
  • Ensure proper oversight and review of service providers, including distributors, investment advisers to ensure they deliver a high-quality service that meets or exceeds client / investor, boards, and distributors expectations.
  • To effectively manage the GFS cost bases.
  • Proactively improve the efficiency of process to reduce unit costs and establish common policy.
  • Explore opportunities to offshore / automate and outsource across the businesses to free capacity / reduce costs.

The GFS function is cross-border global team comprising the staff of AM's Fund Management Companies and supported by a team in the GFS team in the Global Service Centre in Bengaluru.

The Head Of GFS India Role Is

  • A senior leadership role within AM, responsible for the GFS Operations locally and reports into the Global Head of GFS (functional) and Head of AM India (entity) respectively.
  • Critical to ensuring AM fund operations offshore run smoothly, meet regulatory obligations and delivers exceptional services to its stakeholder, making the India operations a key driver in the function's overall success.
  • Expected to work with the GFS Capability Leads to define and deliver the global operating model for GFS.
  • Expected to work with autonomy and provide clear commercial judgment and direction.
  • Expected to interact with and influence a diverse group of senior stakeholders who are geographically spread and may have different requirements (local, regional, and global) and competing demands.
  • Expected to flexibly adapt to a changing set of demands, triggered by, for example: changes in regulation, management and client requests whilst managing risk.
  • Responsible for a significant transformation program including inorganic growth and integration
