About the Role
Seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Engineering to lead Telecom Products and R&D function. The role will be responsible for driving product innovation, technology strategy, product architecture, engineering excellence, and new product development. The incumbent will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop world-class telecom products and solutions while ensuring alignment with market requirements, customer expectations, and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technology Leadership
- Define and execute the engineering and technology roadmap for telecom products
- Lead the overall product engineering, R&D, design, development, validation, and commercialization activities
- Drive engineering excellence through robust development processes, design reviews, and quality standards
- Establish best practices for product architecture, system design, testing, and product lifecycle management
- Evaluate emerging technologies and incorporate innovations into future product offerings
Research & Development
- Lead R&D initiatives for next-generation telecom products and communication technologies
- Drive innovation and product differentiation through advanced engineering solutions
- Identify new technology opportunities and collaborate with industry partners, research institutions, and technology providers
- Promote intellectual property creation, patents, and proprietary technology development
Product Development
- Manage the complete New Product Development (NPD) lifecycle from concept to market launch.
- Work closely with Product Management, Sales, and Business teams to define product requirements and roadmaps.
- Oversee hardware, firmware, software, embedded systems, and system integration activities.
- Ensure products meet performance, scalability, reliability, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Drive continuous product improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
Technical Governance
- Review and approve product architectures, technical specifications, and engineering design.
- Establish engineering KPIs, development milestones, and performance metrics
- Ensure compliance with telecom industry standards, certifications, and quality requirements.
- Lead technical risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering and R&D teams.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Drive talent development, succession planning, and technical competency enhancement.
- Attract and retain top engineering talent.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with customers, technology partners, suppliers, and industry bodies.
- Provide technical leadership during customer discussions, product demonstrations, and strategic engagements.
- Support business development activities by translating customer needs into technical solutions.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field.
- Master's Degree (M.Tech/MS) preferred
Experience
- 15+ years of experience in Telecom Product Engineering, R&D, Product Development, or Technology Leadership.
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading engineering and R&D teams.
- Proven track record in developing and commercializing telecom products and communication solutions.
