Role Summary
The VP / Head of Engineering will provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership across semiconductor and system-level design services. This role is responsible for driving engineering excellence, scalable delivery, product innovation, and customer success across end-to-end silicon and systems programs.
The ideal candidate brings 20+ years of experience spanning semiconductor product development and engineering services, with deep exposure to customer-facing delivery, global teams, and P&L-aligned execution.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technology Leadership
- Define and execute the engineering strategy and technology roadmap aligned with company growth objectives.
- Lead end-to-end engineering across:
- ASIC / SoC / FPGA design
- Analog, mixed-signal, and digital design
- Embedded software, firmware, and system design
- Verification, validation, DFT, physical design, and silicon bring-up
- Drive adoption of best-in-class engineering processes, tools, and quality frameworks.
Product & Services Execution
- Oversee product-oriented and services-led engineering programs, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Balance custom design services, platform-based solutions, and reusable IP strategies.
- Partner with Product Management to shape solution offerings and differentiation for target markets.
Customer & Business Engagement
- Act as a technical executive interface for key customers, including design reviews, escalations, and roadmap discussions.
- Support pre-sales, proposals, and technical due diligence, contributing to deal shaping and closure.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and repeat business.
Organizational Leadership
- Build, mentor, and retain high-performing global engineering teams across multiple geographies.
- Establish clear career paths, leadership development, and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence & Governance
- Own engineering KPIs related to quality, productivity, utilization, and delivery predictability.
- Manage budgets, headcount planning, and resource allocation aligned with business priorities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, security requirements, and customer quality expectations.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Experience
- 20+ years of experience in semiconductor and systems engineering, with a strong mix of:
- Product development
- Engineering / design services delivery
- Proven leadership at Director, Senior Director, or VP level managing large, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated success in scaling engineering organizations in a services or hybrid product-services environment.
- Strong background working with global customers (fabless companies, OEMs, hyperscalers, or Tier-1s).
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of SoC/ASIC lifecycle, from architecture to silicon qualification.
- Strong system-level perspective including hardware-software co-design.
- Familiarity with advanced nodes, IP ecosystems, and EDA workflows is highly desirable.
Leadership & Business Skills
- Strategic thinker with strong execution discipline.
- Excellent communication and executive presence, both internal and customer-facing.
- Proven ability to influence across engineering, sales, product, and executive teams.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- MBA or advanced management education is a plus.
