Position Details

  • Job Title: Head of Engineering
  • Location: Project Sites / Bandra Corporate Office
  • Reporting To: COO / CEO

Objective of the Role

The Head of Engineering will lead the planning, estimation, budgeting, costing, and financial control of all engineering and construction activities for multistoried residential and commercial real estate projects. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with approved designs, statutory regulations, and company quality standards, while driving engineering excellence, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.

Purpose of the Role

To lead budgeting, costing, and financial control processes across projects, ensuring project profitability, cost optimization, and accurate financial reporting, while maintaining engineering quality, regulatory compliance, and construction timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Execution
    • Review and finalize construction estimations, methodologies, sequencing, and project schedules.
    • Ensure strict adherence to approved drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications.
    • Monitor project progress and ensure milestones are achieved.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly progress reports, cost updates, and risk assessments for COO / CEO review.
    • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays and cost overruns.
  • Design & Engineering Coordination
    • Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, MEP consultants, and proof checkers.
    • Review structural, architectural, and MEP drawings for constructability and cost optimization.
    • Ensure compliance with NBC, IS Codes, and local authority regulations.
    • Resolve design-related site issues promptly to prevent project delays.
  • Cost Control & Budget Management
    • Monitor project budgets, material consumption, and wastage levels.
    • Review contractor bills, variations, extra items, and claims.
    • Support procurement in technical specifications and vendor/contractor selection.
    • Implement cost control measures to ensure project profitability.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance
    • Establish quality control systems and inspection processes.
    • Ensure construction activities comply with engineering standards, statutory norms, and safety requirements.
    • Coordinate with authorities for approvals and inspections.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead and mentor Planning Engineers, Billing Engineers, and Site Engineering Teams.
    • Define KPIs and performance metrics for engineering staff.
    • Build strong technical capability and succession planning within the team.
    • Promote a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
  • Stakeholder & Management Reporting
    • Provide regular updates to management on project progress, cost performance, and risk areas.
    • Act as the technical representative of the organization.
    • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders for smooth execution.
Key Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in high-rise RCC construction and MEP coordination
  • Strong knowledge of Indian building codes and NBC
  • Excellent planning, leadership, and decision-making skills
  • Strong commercial and contractual understanding
  • Proficiency in MS Project / Primavera, AutoCAD, ERP systems
  • Ability to manage multiple large projects simultaneously

Qualification & Experience

Education

  • BE / B.Tech in Civil Engineering
  • ME / M.Tech preferred

Experience

  • 15-25 years of experience in construction and engineering management
  • Real Estate Industry experience is mandatory
  • Minimum 5-7 years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven expertise in planning, estimation, and cost control of multi-storeyed residential / commercial buildings

Age Criteria

Preferably below 50 years
