Role Summary
This person will own the entire engineering function - team, architecture, delivery, and excellence - as we scale from $4M to $10M ARR and beyond.
What This Person Will Do
Build the Engineering Organization
- Scale the team from 25 to 50+ engineers
- Hire and develop tech leads and engineering managers
- Design team structure, career paths, and engineering culture
Own Technical Direction
- Drive architecture decisions and the technical roadmap
- Lead evolution toward multi-cloud and AI-native capabilities
- Make build-vs-buy calls on infrastructure and tooling
Establish Engineering Excellence
- Build systems for quality, testing, and releases
- Create documentation and knowledge-sharing practices
- Set up delivery processes that balance speed with stability
- Drive AI-powered development practices—leverage AI tools for coding, testing, code reviews, and documentation to multiply team output
Drive Execution
- Partner with Product on planning and prioritization
- Own engineering outcomes and delivery commitments
- Remove bottlenecks and improve team velocity
What We're Looking For
- Has built or scaled engineering teams (25 → 50+) in high-growth environments
- Experience in enterprise SaaS
- Can operate at both strategy and hands-on levels
- Has built systems and processes from scratch, not just inherited and optimized
- Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-changing priorities
- Experience with or strong interest in AI-driven development practices to accelerate engineering productivity
