Primary title: Head of Engineering
A fast-growing company in the Music Technology and e-commerce sector focused on music streaming, digital storefronts, and artist commerce tools. We build scalable, low-latency systems for audio streaming, payments and commerce workflows that serve millions of listeners and buyers across India and global markets.
This is a hybrid role based in India offering strategic leadership for engineering, product alignment, and platform reliability at scale.
Role & Responsibilities
- Define and own the technical roadmap for streaming, commerce, and artist-platform productsprioritise scalability, latency, and security trade-offs.
- Lead, hire and mentor cross-functional engineering teams (backend, frontend, SRE, infra) to deliver production-grade services and developer velocity.
- Architect and drive implementation of resilient microservices and event-driven systems for real-time audio delivery, user data pipelines and order/payment flows.
- Partner with Product, Design and Data teams to translate product goals into measurable engineering outcomes and delivery cadences.
- Establish engineering excellence: CI/CD, observability, on-call practices, SLAs, cost-optimisation and incident response playbooks.
- Drive vendor and third-party integrations (payment gateways, CDN, streaming infra) and maintain compliance & risk controls for e-commerce transactions.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- Proven senior engineering leadership with ownership of platform roadmaps and delivery in consumer-facing products.
- Deep experience designing and operating microservices and event-driven architectures for high-throughput systems.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native platforms (AWS) and container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker).
- Strong background in backend engineering (Node.js or Python), relational databases (PostgreSQL) and streaming/messaging (Kafka).
- Track record delivering low-latency media or streaming systems, or ecommerce/payment-enabled platforms.
- Expertise implementing CI/CD, observability (metrics, tracing, logging), and incident management at scale.
Preferred
- Experience with audio processing/streaming tools (FFmpeg, WebRTC, HLS/DASH) and CDNs.
- Prior work integrating payment gateways (Stripe, Razorpay) and managing transaction reliability.
- Product-focused engineering mindset with experience scaling engineering teams in startups or high-growth consumer businesses.
