Role & responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design and development of silicone composite insulators including:
- Suspension, tension, long rod, post, and special application insulators
- Products for HVAC (132 kV to 765 kV) and HVDC (320 kV to 800 kV) systems
- Own technical compliance and design validation in accordance with:
- IEC 61109 Composite suspension and tension insulators
- IEC 62217 Composite insulators for overhead lines
- Relevant IEC HV testing standards
- ANSI / IEEE insulator standards, where applicable
- Drive structural and mechanical design using FEA-based methodologies for:
- Bending loads
- Mechanical strength (SML Specified Mechanical Load)
- Combined electro-mechanical stress conditions
- Ensure robust engineering of insulators considering:
- Transmission line hardware
- Tower configurations
- Conductor-hardware-insulator interactions
- Lead and mentor the design team, setting technical direction, best practices, and design standards.
- Oversee the preparation, validation, and approval of:
- Design calculations
- Drawings and technical documentation
- Test plans and qualification reports
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, testing, and projects teams to ensure manufacturability, performance, and reliability of designs.
- Support type testing, FAT, and customer technical audits, providing expert-level engineering inputs.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in materials, product architecture, and structural optimization.
- Utilize advanced tools and data analysis for:
- Design validation
- Performance trend analysis
- Failure investigations and root cause analysis
Preferred candidate profile
- Education: B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical (Preferred)/Electrical Engineering
- Experience: 1015 years of progressive experience in design engineering, preferably in high-voltage insulators, power transmission equipment, or heavy electrical products

Candidates from Tier 1/Tier 2 Engineering Colleges would be highly preferred eg. IITs/IISc/NITs/VIT/SRM/BITS Pilani etc.
