Position: Head of Department (Journalism & Mass Communication)
Qualification: Ph.D. in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies or allied areas.
Experience: Minimum 8+ years of teaching and research experience in Journalism/Media Communication with proven academic and administrative leadership. Industry exposure will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide academic and strategic leadership to the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication.
- Design, update, and implement curriculum as per University/Regulatory norms, keeping pace with industry trends and digital media innovations.
- Mentor and develop faculty members; guide PG/PhD research, projects, and publications.
- Oversee teaching, assessments, practical training, internships, timetable, and student performance.
- Facilitate collaborations with media houses, news agencies, PR firms, and digital platforms for academic–industry interface.
- Lead departmental documentation, accreditation, and compliance processes.
- Support student mentoring, counselling, placements, and overall development.
- Manage departmental resources, labs, studios, budgeting, and infrastructure.
- Represent the department in inspections, academic council, media committees, and institutional forums.
